(Illuminated) Rocker Switches
Rocker Switch Package For Sale. I was originally going to fit rocker switches to my aircraft when it was built. However, space constraints led me to having to use toggle switches but, by then, I’d already bought all the necessary parts (note to self…..don’t get ahead of yourself). As they are now e...

Re: Garmin Magnetometer Install - twisted pair?
As Matt says, I think 24AWG would be insufficient for your incandescent nav light. An 8' length of 24AWG would give a maximum of about 4A. That might be okay but I reckon that wire would be warming up and I definitely would not want it sitting next to three others, two of which are meant to be CAN b...

Re: LAA x BMAA
I have to admit to never particularly caring for 'PFA' in the first place, let alone resurrecting it. I don't think it really conveyed any meaning, whereas at least 'LAA' and 'BMAA' do. I agree with the sentiment that the word 'microlight' should be dropped. I also mostly agree with the chap in the ...

The BMAA are following the same process as the LAA.

Re: 2019 Rally
there is a flat £10 landing fee for single piston aircraft and that includes event access for those on board, so we have no idea of non member aircraft arrivals. Well, that's just begging the question 'why'? Why do LAA members have to pay the same rate as non-members for the LAA Rally? It doesn't t...

Re: Letters : LA Mag, May'19
I've just received my copy of the magazine and I have to admit to wondering what he was whining about. As the future owner of a Rotax 912iS I read the article with interest and took the information for what it is worth. I found it an informative piece and it served to add some information to my lack...

Re: Flying UK LAA Aircraft on Australian (CASA) PPL
This might be a place to start: http://publicapps.caa.co.uk/modalapplication.aspx?appid=11&mode=detail&id=7862 It looks to me a bit like the UK system where your friend would have to authorise CASA to let the CAA have access to his details. I expect it will take some time (especially with CASA AND t...

Re: Intercom Audio Input
What sort of headset do you have, Jon? If it has built-in Bluetooth then the simplest way is to pair your iPad with the headset and then you'll get the audio sans wires. If your headset doesn't have Bluetooth but it has a 3.5mm aux input then you could buy a Bluetooth receiver, plug it into the aux ...

Re: Out of the box
Chris, I was too dim to know if I did mean "federated multi-function" but now I've now looked up "federated" I realise I did. It is a very good description :D I haven't read my magazine yet, as I am separated from it by a few thousand miles, but I should be able to read the article in a week :mrgree...

Re: 4 stroke 3 axis microlight
Is it possible to have a 3 axis microlight taildragger that looks like a conventional aeroplane that can use a 4 stroke engine but still be classed as a microlight ? The Eurofox microlight not only looks like the 'conventional' version but it IS the conventional version, with just a lower MTOW. If ...

Re: Out of the box
Never the less I find the digital ASI less than easy to assimilate, say, on finals, whereas the good old analogue needle instantly registers without refocussing during a busy time. I think a little familiarity changes things a lot. I used to prefer analogue gauges because I thought they showed the ...

Re: Out of the box
But I know there are others , probably with less experience , who may just see this as an opportunity to test how well 3D synthetic vision really does work whilst in cloud. Bit of a strange thing to write. This can happen any time the equipment is fitted to any aircraft, not just because an article...

Yet all members ultimately know that Tracey Curtis-Taylor, a long-standing member, wasn’t treated fairly and we need to look at that. Don't include me in your sweeping statements; I think she has been treated fairly. If you're dishonest and get caught then expect to suffer the consequences. Thankfu...

Re: The Importance of Voting at OUR AGM .
....do bear in mind that neither motion is about what I did or didn’t do; they are about the manner in which the LAA conducted itself. True, an in-house report produced in April 2018 found his actions beyond reproach Question asked and answered. Next! Do you really want to go throwing stones in the...
