Re: PilotAware Article in October 2019

Hi Brian/Keith Thank you for the swift reply. Since writing this I did a bit more digging and this article came to light on the FLARM website: https://flarm.com/10000th-powerflarm-sold/ With this picture: https://flarm.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/10000th-PowerFLARM-Customer-3_2-1000px.jpg I think...

PilotAware Article in October 2019

As ever, October’s Light Aviation is a great read. However, there appears to be a significant error in the data shown in the article by the PilotAware team. It is the graph on page 48 that claims to be “ using the best figures available, the types and volumes of transmissions from UK GA aircraft in ...

Re: Electronic conspicuity article from the Feb edition of t

Hi Gerry I hope you will be as pleased as I am with both the SkyEcho 1 and 2 (SE1 and SE2). The later model is a significant improvement. You will be able to use both the PAW and the SE2 - as a portable solution this is the best of both worlds really as you will be outputting ADS-B but getting the r...

Re: Electronic conspicuity article from the Feb edition of t

I posted this a while back on the Flyer Forum and members may find this of interest? On Thursday 6th September 2018 a development SkyEcho 2 arrived in the post. I was sent it by the company to test and give my thoughts - as both a keen commentator on low-power ADS-B and also as a current SkyEcho 1 u...

Re: The Importance of Voting at OUR AGM .

I have just voted via the Proxy Vote that landed on my doorstep this morning and my personal position has not changed since 2016. I am also disturbed that misogyny has been cited in some of the supporting words. Having been awarded my flying badge with the first full-time regular female RAF pilot an...

Brand New Books At 30% Prices

I've listed some brand new books on E-Bay for sale including "Taming the Taildragger", "Cessna 152 Pilot's Guide", "PA28 Warrior Pilot's Guide", "ASA Takeoffs & Landings" and "Owning and Operating Your Own Aircraft". I've kept the ones that I want and have put the rest up at close to what I bought t...

Brian North - RIP

I have just learned that Brian North (ex Wg Cdr Engineer and PFA inspector) has been killed in a light aircraft accident in Colorado. Some of you may remember Brian before he left for the US as he built a Pazmany PL-4 (G-PLIV) and also a SE5a Replica (G-CEKL). I believe that Brian was flying the SE-...

I am at the airfield at RAF Halton every day and I haven't seen them there for months. I am told they are bankrupt but I do not know this 100% for sure. My understanding is that there are an amount of creditors to be paid off including RAF Halton who is owed a lot of rent. My advice is to avoid them...

Harry (apologies for calling you Stuart earlier!) Yes, I always land via a 3-pointer in the Condor. The guy who taught me, who has been instructing on her for years, told me this. I also tend to use grass as the tyres wear out very quickly on tarmac/concrete landings - that said, with the wide track...

Stuart You've had me thinking a bit harder and I wonder if the Parts Manual is suggesting the measurement with the aircraft jacked up? As I would expect the wheels to start to splay under load. The manual mentions jacking up the aircraft and then doing a bunch of items and measurements, but at no po...

PS. Here's an article from Pilot Mag and it describes the "toe out" on the last page. I suggest you don't modify the toe out to neutral as this would be a modification and LAA Eng will have a fit!
