Re: Why do so many VP-1's fall into disuse?

A Short VP1 video,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9JREWmy1kk

Child #2 recorded this on his phone in Janurary, he's now stuck in isolation so edited it and put it on Youtube to entertain others also isolated. Nothing exciting happens, just VP1 happy times.

Re: Open cockpit flying during winter

Hi Ed, the following works for me - a neck warmer tube ( my wife says they're called a Buff ) tucked under the helmet strap so there is no exposed skin, winter motor cycle gloves, a Trespass ski jacket ( wind proof, cheap - £35, surprisingly effective ), and then 'thermal' layers. The gloves were th...

HIRTA

My favourite place to fly, Weybourne on the North Norfolk coast, is NOTAMed with a hirta, as it was last summer. I know what a hirta is, (probably), but can't discover whether I am being overly cautious in not visiting. I don't plan to father any more children and I'd be happy to turn the radio off,...

Re: Tracey Curtis-Taylor

The TCT website and Wiki make no mention of solo endeavours or navigating with only a road map and a home made compass, of course she has loads of support, how else would you fly a 1930s biplane around the world. In the reports of her adventures I have seen, the support has been obvious. I am sure h...

Re: BEDE BD5

Shame, I just goggled it and it looks so cool. Would it be very different from a J3 ? It has spoilers so I might manage on 300m of grass, also think of the savings if you could run it on heating oil. :D

Re: Safe Storage of MOGAS

Paint the word AVGAS on your can, then you can store it on site. :D :D

Re: Safe Storage of MOGAS

Would you consider Avgas and can you store it at the airfield ? The extra cost does not amount to much if you are not using much and it is higher quality.

Re: Safe Storage of MOGAS

I think storing petrol in your home is a very bad idea, sorry that I'm not more helpful. Buy the amount you want to use, on your way to your aircraft, and then you are only storing an empty container. Regards Daniel Scott

Re: constructors liability afte sale

Amateur construction sold privately, there ought to be some clues there. It seems to me that if you want a warranty buy a Cessna.

Re: Leaving the circuit

I'm flying a J3, even the microlights are faster. Its only an issue when visiting, the traffic often seems to be using a massive circuit from my perspective. Thanks for the reply. Daniel Scott

Leaving the circuit

What is the best way to leave a busy circuit if take off direction and depature are opposite? The aircraft is slow (ground speed in the climb is below 50K ), if I climb ahead to 2000'+ and then turn back time and fuel have been used and I would have to go through traffic joining o/h. Turning down wi...
