Avid speedwing

I'm looking for an Avid project that either needs repairs or TLC. I don't need an engine, so if it's got one, no problem.

Thanks. Phil.

RV9A nose leg failures

I have been trying to find the general area of insipient failure of the nose leg socket support structure, and any relevant repair schemes. I have a repair scheme submitted the area involved is the tube at the bottom of the port lower engine mount gusset where the tube has a crack. The STBD tube is ...

Avid engine mount parts

I'm looking for a pair of the alloy saddles that bolt to the bottom of a Rotax 582 when using the "Dyna" mount.
Currently using the old type mount, but was gifted a new mount, but came without the alloy bits.
Anyone changed engines have them available?

Thanks. Phil.

I can do the Peacock mod, if you require, also the barrel register if you are fitting larger barrels.

Avid 582 ali engine bearers

I have what is known as an Dyna Smooth engine mount that fits the Mk 4 aerobat but what I don't have are the ali parts that bolt to the 582 engine case. perhaps there are a pair that survived and accident, or someone fitted an alternative engine and has them available.

Thanks. Phil.

Re: Aluminium welding

Found this info. The 7xxx series (aluminum-zinc-magnesium) alloys exhibit a wide range of crack sensitivity during the welding. Alloys 7005 and 7039, with a low copper content (<0.1%), have a narrow melting range and can be readily joined with the high magnesium filler alloys 5356, 5183 and 5556. Th...

Re: propeller hub

How desperate are you Tom?
I have one on a converted engine that I am going to use as a flywheel drive. The crank is good with not many hours so if you wanted to increase your power you could just drop it in.

Regards. Phil.

Ellison throttle bodys

Has any body had experience of using alcohol free mogas in Ellison body's?
I remember seeing one on an aircraft fitted with a VW conversion. Seemed to work fine.

Slack control cables

A lot of wooden aircraft I'me looking at during this dry spell have drastically loose control cables. I am tempted to describe them as washing lines. Some types are prone to flutter and a harmonic wing twisting that can cause catastrophic failure, so best, if you haven't already, do the checks. Bear...
