For what it's worth, here is Peter Beck's explanation of the modification: "The rear spar per the drawings is the bent upward rear edge of the bottom wing skin, doubled up with a 92" 1" angle piece to form a spar and doubler to provide the attachment to the rear center spar. This is good news indeed, and even though a couple of years ago I was told any new project "had to be a refurbishment/restoration job of an existing aircraft", I very much welcome it.
