Strut still exists. Next meeting 24 June 2010
The next meeting of the NW London and Herts strut will be 24 June 2010. We have Alan Turney providing an evening on vintage aircraft and I would also like to offer a quick talk on flying to Germany for anybody who has not yet crossed the channel.
19:30 is the time at the Elstree Aeroclub.

Not all of us have a NPPL, I have a JAA so I am permitted to fly to Ireland although I do understand that not having NPPL would reduce the numbers somewhat.

I can put together a flyinn at Elstree if you like. The last two seemed to work just fine but I would like a good idea of a theme?
I went to a taco flyinn in the USA last year and a hotdog flyinn in Wisconson just after that but when I suggested these I got a totally lukewarm response and somebody ...

C152
C150
CH601
CH701
Jodel (any of them)
Sports cruiser
Jabiru (all of them)
Aeronica or taylor craft (all of them)
Begal pup's

It seems none of them are going to include it in the rental, looks that you have to go to a external company like AOPA to buy a whole years worth.
I think this little jolly of occasionaly hiring and flying in the good ol USA is comming to an end.
I am wondering if next time I hire a car in the USA ...

Is renters insurance really ok in USA?
Ok, got my FAA with English proficiant on the back but all FBO's that I have found seem to want renters insurance now to cover any incidents.
A few years back this was not the case, seems to be a new thing. I think it was included in the rental last time.

Insure and go!!
I use insure and go, I have to ring them every time I want to rent but the prices per day are something like £1.50 for Europe and £3.00 for the USA. The cost of the basic travel insurance is about £60 for a year for a family and I just add on the days as I need them.
