Re: Aerovee AeroInjector experience?

This is interesting,
I'm currently looking at Rotec TBI or an Aeroinjector.
What were the issues with the Rotec ?
Any luck with the Aerovee jobby ?

Re: Ellison throttle body

Hi Phil,

May I ask what size this is and what sort of power range on engine it would be suitable for please ?
I have had a google about but didn't really get anywhere.

Cheers,

Skelly.

Re: Battery article Jun 21 LA Magazine

All interesting stuff,

Personally I have faith in good quality high end LIPO4 batteries.
I used them for 10 years in my racebikes and roadbikes using charging and total loss with no problems whatsoever.
I will be fitting one of the Earth X ones to my Kitfox soon.

One important point is to get the ...

recovering a fuselage with Oratex

Hi everyone,
Soon I will be looking to recover my Kitfox Mk2 fuselage with Oratex 600UL with backside coating.
May I ask what the preferred method is regarding what size and shape pieces to use ?
the bit that confuses me is the top piece from the turtledeck back to the vertical stabiliser where it ...

What everyone else said,

Thankyou Malcolm, always very interesting and insightful and like someone mentioned, somewhat alarming.

All the best,

Re: Editing LAA Forms

I agree with Tony,

I have recently been boggling with a Mod5 form which loads as a PDF that you can fill in then send but its a bit of a strange process.

Life would be a lot easier if they were in word format then I could download it, fill it in and send it off, then it would be much easier for ...

Re: Dual battery setup for Leberg ignition

Thanks Mike,

That sounds exactly as the instructions in the Leberg manual.

That setup would work fine but I also need a battery with enough oomph to crank the engine.

I'm seriously looking at a LiFePo4 main battery with mosfet reg-rec and a back up battery that isn't connected to the charging ...

Re: Oratex covering.

Hi Laurie,

I looked into the Stewart system but I settled on Polyfibre as the guys at Aircraftcoverings who sell this stuff are absolutely spot on and have been really helpful.

https://aircraftcoverings.com

Also it does seem to be the preferred system among many people so I thought, yep, that'l ...

Re: Dual battery setup for Leberg ignition

Interesting stuff,

My KFM engine has a single phase generator which is exactly the same as some Ducati motorcycles.
To be honest I don't think it has the sufficient output to successfully charge a lithium battery so that sorts that out.

So now I just have to decide on which gel batteries to use ...

Re: Rebuilding Kitfox Mk2 wings

Hi Lauire,

Yes Hal is a pretty clued up guy.

I will be doing everything as the book says for a start.
Then see how I get on.

Cheers,

Re: Rebuilding Kitfox Mk2 wings

That's interesting,

I must say I don't like the droop tips very much.
Someone once told me that they were only there to protect the wing in the case of a wing strike/ground loop.

I'm not sure how true that is.

I would like to remove mine as it would certainly save weight.

I wonder how many have ...

Re: Oratex covering.

I can't really help much but I have been looking at Oratex myself.
The conclusion that I arrived at was:

I'm a complete amateur at aircraft covering, so I will use the cheaper stuff ie polyfibre.

I'll be following this thread as I may learn something.

Cheers,

Re: Dual battery setup for Leberg ignition

Hi Jim,

Thanks for that, very informative.
I think I will go for 2 x 7AH gel batteries to take care of the ignitions and a split charger.
I may then use a non charged lipo4 battery just for engine cranking with short wires but I am not 100% decided yet.

I'll keep you posted on how things pan out ...
