Hi James
A friend of mine has a slightly damaged Jodel D11 (ground looped - bent u/c legs, broken wing rib [spar fine], needs an engine or engine rebuild) dismantled in his workshop. Let me know if that would be of any interest.

Re: Baffling Departure of CEO
Mike So, a chap resigns from his job; happens in all walks of life, everywhere, everyday and for an infinite variety of reasons. You're obviously agitating for something, consider some sort of dark motives are at work behind the scenes, malevolent forces working against some poor defenceless soul, b...

Jodel 1050 tailwheel spring
Just found the main leaf-spring on our Jodel 1050 tail wheel assembly broken. Does anybody have one they can spare hidden under a bench?

Permit Renewal Service
As happens every year the LAA office has turned around my Permit renewal application by return of post. I sent it on Tuesday and the new Certificate of Validty was waiting on my door mat on Thursday.
Excellent service.

Re: Magneto overhaul
Magnetos overhauled by Tim at Oaksey Park. Quick turnaround at a reasonable cost and they now work fine. We also had a problem with a tired and sha**ed out carburettor (probably done 2200 hours plus) which was making starting very iffy and, at the last attempt, we were 200rpm down on the (attempted)...

Re: Magneto overhaul
Thanks Dave and John
I've just had them looked at by Tim at Oaksey Park but heven't run them yet. He was also quick and reasonable so I'm hoping to be able to report a successful outcome.

Magneto overhaul
Can anyone recommend a good magneto overhauler/fixer? I have a pair of Slick 4301s on the O-200 in my Jodel that could do with a coat of looking at. They've done about 700hours since new and starting is getting difficult.
Thanks

Re: Brazing 4130N steel fittings
Ian I've only just spotted your thread on brazing v welding so apologies for the late input. I would be very reluctant to weld rather than braze for three reasons: 1. As pointed out by Bertrand you will (not might or could) change the material propeties of the steel by welding and to an unknown degr...

Re: Olympic Aispace Restrictions.
John That sounds promising. I am likely to file a flight plan on Sunday evening for Blackbushe. When you received your authorization number did it simply come through as text in an e-mail message on the e-mail address that you noted in the flight plan? If not, in what form did you get it? Regards Je...

Re: Shafted again?
John We all know how much time, effort, good sense and expertise you bring to the LAA cause and, without blowing too much sunshine, we wouldn't be where we are today without your personal efforts. The case you've presented here is factual, logical and shows a very sensible approach to the issue; and...

Re: Shafted again?
Paul The accident statisctics as presented at the CAA Safety evenings are the data I was referring to. There is no getting away from it, the accident rate for gyros is much worse than for fixed wing types. QED. My Jodel is actually rather closer to 50 years old than 30, my glider is about 30 years o...

Re: Shafted again?
Let's not be shy here chaps, the gyro accident rate is an order of magnitude worse than the GA fixed wing fleet. I personally know an ETPS rotary wing test pilot who let his rotary wing ratings all lapse (he now flies fixed wing aircraft as well) partly so that he wouldn't be asked to test fly gyros...
