Re: License Question
As you know, in the UK the CAA accepts EASA licences for us to fly aircraft on a UK national permit so it is quite possible that other European authorities do the same. To get confirmation I think you will need to contact the Portugese aviation authority. You say that the aircraft is on a Permit to ...

Re: EASA Part NCO and Carriage of PLB and ELT Equipment
Minor point; there is no such thing as an LAA Permit to Fly.
Most are LAA-administered CAA Permits, a few are LAA-administered EASA Permits.

Re: Coaching Scheme
Fair points Steve. However, what that would probably mean for Jon is a massive increase in (voluntary) workload whilst he gave every good, bad and indifferent coaching applicant a flight test - I don't think that that is practical. There has to be a 'bar' at a level that weeds out more 'bad' applica...

Re: Coaching Scheme
I suspect I'm not fully aware of some of the background to conversations alluded to so am putting my two-pen o worth in slightly blind-sided but... It is worth keeping in mind that LAA PCS (and Jon as its head) is taking (personal) liability for what is done in the name of the PCS. Given that he is ...

Re: Cross Channel Adventure
Hi John
I'd like to come along on your cross channel jaunt please. It should be a good day out and I can get to grips with the GAR stuff which I've not used before.
What do I do next?

Re: Free Landing Vouchers
I've always had friendly service from Goodwood too, sorry to hear you didn't. Given that they had agreed to the magazine offering free landings at their airfield, and you'd accepted that offer in good faith I'd have given the person involved a fairly short riposte; I've given up making allowances fo...

Rally 2013
I flew in to the Rally on Saturday and had a very pleasant time indeed. Lots of aeroplanes there but there was a very relaxed feel about the whole thing which was just what was required. Met lots of old friends and had a thoroughly good time. All credit to the very small team (4) that made this all ...

Re: Please can you ask for a Traffic Service
Hi John I asked Brize (119.0MHz) for a Traffic Service at about 1130 local on Saturday 6 July and got 'fed' a Basic Service. It might be that I should have used one of their other frequencies but they did not give that indication in their response. I think you are on to something here. Regards and k...
