Re: The Importance of Voting at OUR AGM .

Oh joy, a wet Saturday and a few hours to kill. Salvation comes in the form of my LAA mag. I look forward to some relaxing reading, until I see the enclosure. Good grief ! If only it were the April edition. I was one of the many proxy voters who saw to the 2016 result and with what has subsequently ...

Re: Norwich Controlled Airspace

John, Whilst the ATC folks at Norwich are widely reported as being a good bunch, we have a very different view WRT the management there. Bearing in mind that we exposed some glaring misrepresentations in their case for CAS, particularly the matter of military traffic, I'd be interested to know their...

Re: New CEO

All of the above. Preferably somebody who doesn't use all these new fangle 'in' phrases such as 'handshakes' when describing a written agreement. Or, we could all go to the AGM and play Bull Sh1t Bingo. Somebody who builds good working relationships with other bodies, particularly CAA and suchlike, ...

Re: What is a good workshop?

When I stripped my aircraft and re-skinned it, I did so in the workshop at the strip which is 20 miles from home. There were weeks when I never got near the place, due to long working days and time pressure. had I brought it home to my double garage, I'd have completed the task so much quicker. keep...

Re: English Language proficiency assessment at Flying Show

I'm sure I speak on behalf of lots of folks. Thanks to Jon and others on the LAA stand for their valiant campaign to get us through the loop of red tape that is the language proficienct debacle. The good humour of fellow sufferers made the wait a social occasion. I am now the proude holder of a sist...

Re: Proposal to Introduce Radio Mandatory Zones (RMZ)

If (BIG if) the RMZ were employed as an alternative to class D, then I'm in favour. If it becomes another level of 'control' in addition to all the CAS extant, then absolutely not. I agree with previous comments about needing brevity in R/T contact, Also agree that having announced your presence, yo...

Re: "booking out" and SERA requirements

Bill, Rule 17(2) of the Rules of the Air Regulations 2007 states: 'The commander of an aircraft arriving at or departing from an aerodrome in the United Kingdom shall take all reasonable steps to ensure, upon landing or prior to departure, as the case may be, that the person in charge of the aerodr...

Re: "booking out" and SERA requirements

Can someone point me in the direction of the rule/law requiring us to book in/book out ? Does this only apply to operations from particualr types of aerodrome ? Such as licensed or those with full blown ATC ?

Txpdr hex code

How is a hex code entered into a transponder ? Does it require some specia lkit and wads of cash for an 'expert' to do it ?
