Re: What happened to all the Freds?
Very interesting to me, as I had the pleasure of Flying Eric's prototype at Sywell over forty years ago before I and they moved Stateside. Eric told me that due to advancing years he sold Fred to another expat Brit in Vero Beach, so it ought to be in good hands.

Re: Engine tacho calibration
The one I have currently is just identified by the icon as RPM Gauge, but on the PlayStore it is called Accoustic Tachometer (RPM) and written by Javier Yanez. You can set it for four cylinders and 4 stroke cycle. Resolution is claimed at 40 rpm. In my AA5 with the original 1972 tacho the two agree ...

Re: Copy of article in May/June 1970 copy of PF
The article is by Derek Piggot. A second instrument was mounted and connected to the static on a trailing bomb which was towed behind and below the aircraft in undisturbed air flow.
If you want a copy of the article I can scan and send.

Re: Mode S Transponder checking?
I had a similar problem which turned out to be due to corrosion beneath the antenna and the aircraft skin. Cleaned it up and it has worked perfectly since then.

I suggest that you contact Norris Hibbler at Aircraft and Marine Insurance in Vancouver Washington state. They have written a lot of policies for Grumman Gang members amongst others, and are very competitive and customer oriented.

Re: May I introduce myself - and solicit advice?
The late John Taylor built his first design in a second floor apartment I believe. And my Turb was built at times on the dining room table and in the garage! Not many people that I know had the good fortune to be able to build in a hangar on an airfield, so just go ahead and make a start on some sma...

Re: Rally Slots
Harry, I'm sorry to say that I do not have any records of the information you are trying to compile. From memory, when I first became involved in the PFA around 1956 I believe that Harold Best Devereux was in the chair. Eric King was chairman from 1960 to 1961, when David Armstrong took over as Eric...

Re: Rally Slots
Having lived in the USA for the last forty one years, I am out of touch with the way that things are done now. But back then we did not need landing slots. I can fly into Oshkosh and Sun n' Fun without an arrival slot, or for that matter most USA airports. So why is this over regulation now a way of...

Richard, had to be my Turbulent. My present ride is an AA5 with a Skytech starter that fires up with no effort on my part in the hot Florida weather!

Re: Airspace infrigements
I don't remember airspace violations being much of a problem when I used to live in the UK, but that was over forty years ago before the great airspace grab! People are concerned that the cost of flying is reducing the number of recreational pilots, so why is more controlled airspace required? We ma...

Re: Advice please on installing the Bob Archer antenna Model
Richard, your comments about inside a fuselage obviously cannot apply to a metal airframe, or even carbon fiber, perhaps. I cannot see how the curvature can have an effect if the antenna is mounted in what is essentially a non-conductive enclosure.

Re: Baffling Departure of CEO
When I think about how PFA was struggling forty years ago, and now look at the remarkable organization that has inherited the mantle, we obviously have had the benefit of some very talented individuals in the driving seat over the years! Long may it continue!

Re: Baffling Departure of CEO
Having been out of the UK for the last forty years, I was wondering what PFA did not do that made it necessary to create the BMAA. There appears to be so much in common that separate organizations appear not to be needed. I am not a BMAA member, but I did drop them an e-mail asking this same questio...
