Diagnosing Leburg ignition problem
I have installed Leburg dual ignition on my VW rebuild and all is wired up correctly - using the internal sensor version. I have a healthy voltage, fully-charged batteries and can get nice big fat sparks on the A ignition. However, I'm getting nothing from the B ignition. With the help of other Lebu...

'Hard' rubber washers
In the Peacock conversion manual for the VW engines, it recommends the use of hard 'superbike-type' rubber washers between the engine mounts and the firewall bulkhead, to accommodate the natural swelling / contraction of the wood over time. Having rebuilt the engine with my inspector - and refitting...

90 degree tacho cable adaptor on the panel side
I've just connecting up my Taylor Mono rebuild and starting to encounter all those annoying issues that make you think you're 90% done, when it fact you're more like 60% complete. I've got a 90 degree tacho drive connector on the engine case, but where I have relocated the panel back to the original...

Re: 3D printing for accessory / non-structural parts
Totally agree on all the above. My question really was - given that 3D Printing has been around for the best part of 15 years - surely there must exist some structural analysis in the GA world and I assume that the LAA must have pondered the question of 'what to do about it' prior, that's all. I wou...

Re: 3D printing for accessory / non-structural parts
I'm currently awaiting fabrication of a PETG harness for 2 batteries for the Leburg - these will be mounted in the recess behind my headrest, so already quick secure but the harness should prevent them moving about in lumpy air. It's exactly the sort of use case for this - although there are lots of...

3D printing for accessory / non-structural parts
Assuming that someone from the LAA is on here, I wondered if there is any guidance / policy on using innovative fabrication tools / materials during a build - specifically I'm interested in 3D printing. I need to fabricate a cradle to contain the batteries for my Leburg ignition set-up and have enjo...

VW engines - cooling requirements
I'm interested in picking the brains and opinions of those who operate VW engines. I'm currently restoring a Taylor Mono and hope to flick the rebuilt engine into life in a couple of weeks. I'm getting lots of varied, conflicting feedback about engine cooling. I'm not expecting a single 'right answe...

Re: First post...stupid questions about hoses and fittings
Thanks Tony and others for replies.
Previously, the engine had braided PTFE lines on it, not 303. I'm not all that clear as to what advantages the braided hose gives in an engine like the VW - seems like added weight? I was going to replace with 303 so your replies give me confidence in my decision!

VW breather / venting the case
Further to my earlier first post, another stupid, beginner's question here. When I took ownership of my project, the VW1600 (peacock conversion) had 303 hosing connected to the side of the oil filler plate (see photo below): https://i.imgur.com/pIeaIBr.jpeg Speaking with the former owner, this hosin...

First post...stupid questions about hoses and fittings
Hello, This is my first post on these forums - I am a younger LAA member, very much on the greener side in terms of engineering experience - so please be gentle! I am currently restoring a Taylor Mono under the supervision of my inspector, which has included fully rebuilding the engine. I am very ne...
