I think the days of 36 hr permit renewal turnaround times are a thing of the past..
Taking so much longer I think they probably call it progress!

Re: Battery article Jun 21 LA Magazine

Hi Mike, Bristell NG5 with standard original Rotax 912 Ducati regulator. No extra 'gubbins' needed to keep charge rate happy. EarthX battery mounted on firewall, engine side as per normal.Cof G works out just fine with no added weight adjustment needed in tail. All LAA approved at build time in 2015...

Re: Battery article Jun 21 LA Magazine

I have been using an LAA approved EarthX Lithium battery in my Rotax 912 engined aircraft for the last 6years without any problems at all.The aircraft is fully loaded with twin Dynon screens, Autopilot, CS Prop and other electrical goodies etc. The battery weighs only 1.5kg and it works perfectly, T...

Re: LAA amateur built aircraft flying to France post Brexit

Donald, As you say it has not been exactly 'spelled out'. As things stand at the moment a UK issued LAPL as laid out by the CAA is 'UK Flight only'. So I think we do need some official clarification on where we stand before venturing forth into the EU. Of course It all depends this year anyway on if...

Re: LAA amateur built aircraft flying to France post Brexit

Donald, I would like to hope you are correct? However until someone officially tells me different I have my doubts. As I understand things the LAPL licence is non ICAO as you say, but is an EASA licence and as the UK is no longer in EASA a previously UK issued LAPL is not acceptable for flight in th...

Re: LAA amateur built aircraft flying to France post Brexit

I suppose it is expecting too much in the short term to expect them to accept a PMD, but would be good if they would accept a UK LAPL wouldn't it?

Re: LAA amateur built aircraft flying to France post Brexit

Ok, that's the aircraft sorted for going to France which is great! All I need now is a licence/medical combo other than a Class 2 medical that the EU will accept.
Any news on if/when they will accept a UK issued LAPL/LAPL medical?...or better still a Med Dec?

Ray Allen RP3 Trim Indicator wanted

I am looking for a Ray Allen RP3 Trim Indicator either new or used to replace an existing one that has faulty LED's.
Hoping that someone can help?
The RP3 is now superceded by the RP4 indicator which won't fit in the space I have.

Thanks,

Alan

Re: Ciovid -19 and Permit Revalidation Check Flight

That is good information to hear Alan. Good to know the LAA are being pragmatic in the current Covid restrictions and not insisting on MAUW for the flight test. Just a bit dissapointing though that they cannot reply to my email of two weeks telling me that! Like you I would not be happy fitting 90kg...

Re: Ciovid -19 and Permit Revalidation Check Flight

Thanks for the reply Mike but even with full tanks I am 90kg short of max weight. Securing ballast to make up that amount of weight to carry out a flight test and a VNE dive to 155knots which I need to do would make me very uncomfortable. The flight test is no longer needed for an EASA aircraft at a...

Ciovid -19 and Permit Revalidation Check Flight

I have asked this question in a formal email to the LAA but so far after two weeks have had no reply so thought I would ask the question on here to seen what others are doing with this regard renewing their aircraft permit. How can a Permit flight test be carried out in compliance with the aircraft ...

Re: Heads up, Article on Feb 20 mag on ANR headsets

It may be a bit obvious and undiplomatic to say this so please take it the right way..
Surely a lot of it depends on how big your head is and how big your ears are as to which headset is the most comfortable? :D
