Re: Noise reduction
It may be academic now but this is the neat arrangement on a C90 I am involved with. 4 into 2 steel headers leading to a collector/silencer with a single outlet plus a stainless muff for cabin and carb heat. Its very quiet in operation but unfortunately I cannot see a maker's name.

Re: Rollason Condor tips
The update on the brakes is inconclusive. If they are used briefly then OK but if the parking brake is used then they do not come all the way off and the brakes then rub against the drum. I will have to investigate the master cylinders to see if the pistons are moving well. Today's question is the f...

Re: Rollason Condor tips
Hi John,
Thanks for responding but yes I think our problems are different, there was no rust on my pistons or cylinder body.
For information I took a photo of my brake yesterday. This was whilst I was bleeding them but I don't think that changed anything, we'll see when I do some taxi tests.

Re: Rollason Condor tips
Hi Ian,
I believe it's the wheel end, the slave cylinder that is jamming.
My next step is to bleed the brakes with the tail raised to level the master cylinders on the cockpit floor.
Cheers, Alan.

Re: Rollason Condor tips
Hello All, Has anyone got a good photograph or exploded parts diagram of the drum brakes used on a Jodel 1050 and Rollason Condor ? I am having trouble with a brake not releasing when I let go of the handle. When tightening the nut on the slave cylinder it surely holds the external pistons against t...

Pitts S1 fuel tank wanted
Pitts S1 fuel tank wanted - as mine has cracked above the boss for the water drain.
Has anyone got an unused tank available or has any advice on the ones available from Aviat, Steen Aero, Jarrell or Aircraft Spruce.
Thanks for any help.

Re: Permit renewal, two day turnaround
I am not sure that gmail has a 'whitelist' feature, at least not on my ancient ipad, only a 'blacklist'.
What you can do is create a filter for all emails from laa.uk.com and select 'never send to spam'.
Anyway the repeat email arrived without any problem as has many previous LAA emails.

Re: Permit renewal, two day turnaround
Another excellent turnaround within 1 day of receipt of my Permit application. Unfortunately I did not know because that LAA email was in the spam folder of my gmail account for no obvious reason. I phoned Engineering today and Jerry Parr told me it had already been sent plus sent it again. Note to ...

Re: CAA Consultation
How about:
1) There is no justification given by the CAA e.g. a safety case, to make any changes.
2) The proposals in Section 10 of Chapter 8-26 could mean the end of volunteer inspectors.

Re: CAA Consultation
I do not see it as a clear imposition of new rules. The CAA response says there was a consultation with the LAA & BMAA starting from September 2019.
So I will confine my response to what I do not agree with from the A8-26 proposals and particularly the absence of any justification from the CAA.

Re: ICOM IC-A220 Radio - squelch troubles
Hello Gary, Did you ever resolve this issue? I installed an ICOM IC-A220 before Christmas and have similar behaviour but I can stop the noise by selecting full +10 manual squelch. It seems to be caused by something in the hangar but as the ground is so wet I have not dared take the aircraft out to t...

Rollason Condor tips
Hello All, Good to see this Forum back up and running. Recently I have become involved in the maintenance of a Rollason (Druine) Condor so am looking for information. The joint between the wings and fuselage, aft of the leading edge aluminium fairing, is covered by some plastic trim that is looking ...

Re: Voting Form-LAA-BMAA merger
Hi Brian,
Thank you for your clarification that this is not the definitive vote. I am reassured.
I was quoting "do merge" from the AGM leaflet but after your reply I looked at the proxy voting form where the wording is "to merge" so I see your point.
Alan.

Re: Voting Form-LAA-BMAA merger
I think I missed something by not being at the Q&A at the Rally. The AGM motion repeats the position paper sent out by email in early September that includes "it is now an appropriate time to seek member's views". Yet the motion is that the LAA and BMAA "do merge" that I read as a yes or no decision...
