Re: Courses

I see there is now a course for Gypsy engines. Good for them.

How many more Lycoming and Continental engines are strapped to the front (or sometimes the rear) of permit aircraft?

Courses

Just posted in engineering but as it is in a VW thread I doubt many will see it. We seem to have courses on Rotax engines. Can we have some courses on Lycomings and Continentals, please? As an example of the need for a Lycoming course I am stunned by how few Lycoming owners know they should clean ou...

Re: VW Cylinder Head Machining

I think it would be a good idea to have courses on the small Continentals (O-200 etc) and for the 4 cylinder (O-235 / 290 / 320 / 360 / 390) and 6 cylinder (O-540) Lycomings. There's a heck of a lot more of them flying than VWs. As an example of the need for a Lycoming course I am stunned by how few...

MOD 3 form

Just doing battle with a mod 3 form - what a farce!

What exactly is an
Accompanying document supporting airworthiness of modification?

My grasp of the English language and aircraft matters is usually pretty good but this phrase conveys absolutely nothing.

Re: Leburg ignition switch

1 thing I was pleased with, I made a small ignition panel that bolts onto back of instrument panel. Ie has switches buzzers and circuit breakers on it. Means you can remove instrument panel without disconnecting any wires. I put incredibly loud piezo electric beepers on the engine side of the firew...

As the VW is still used extensively at the grass roots end of the LAA Fleet, it strikes me that an online respository of related information (technical and suppliers) somewhere on the LAA website would be useful. Or does such a thing exist and I just haven't found it?

Tony
I never found one.

Re: Auto grade fuel flow meter

Tony. I understand an applaud your hunt for automotive engine monitoring systems (EMS) for aircraft use. However... Just wondering where you are at regarding other engine monitoring and whether you have considered the 'bigger picture'. If your current engine monitoring is just RPM, oil T & P and fue...

Re: Mod Approval

Looks like everybody else is as mystified by the Mod system as you are, including inspectors! I am (or more likely was) pursuing what should be a really straightforward mod with standard kit but confronted with massively repetitive paperwork (everything on MOD2 has to be re-entered on MOD3!) and que...

And the expected / projected / target price point? I do wonder how much money the LAA is expending on this given its relevance to most of the membership. I also wonder how much engineering resource the LAA is expending on this given the backlog of mod, radio, IFR and Night applications that are alre...

Re: BRITISH EASA LAPL POST BREXIT

Quite frankly I am going to ignore all licensing requirements from now on. If the powers that be can't be bothered to do their job properly why should anybody pay any attention to them. Mass civil disobedience / non-cooperation will get their attention. Anyone with an LAPL should automatically be is...

You say you have a Mode S transponder. Well, one wire will take the GPS signal from your PAW box (much less than £250) to your transponder and now you have your ADSB Out, as well as In. I agree with pretty well all you say, Paul. One thing, though... a number of early mode S transponders (mentionin...
