The Dunkirk Spirit - would you offer help?

If you have a light plane and feel like doing your bit to help rescue stranded travelers, then have a look at http://dunkirkspirit.ning.com - this is a good opportunity for GA and the wider community to interact, and for us all to get some positive press for light aircraft & have some fun at the sam...

It is true that CSA used to manufacture the entire aircraft for Zenair in Europe, and that this has been discontinued. However, the company continues to service and maintain the aircraft - there are often 701's etc in the factory being serviced or repaired etc - it works out economic to do this & th...

Czech Sport Aircraft still manufactures and supply parts for the 601 / 701 aircraft, so if you need exhausts etc. then they are in good supply.

That is a pity about Chasagne - must be quite some refurb if it going to take that long. Hope it doesn't loose any character as some modernisations do. Re second hand market for SC's - there are few that come up complete as people buy to fly on the whole, but we know of a few kits that people have p...

Hi Martin - There is a new site for the UK which is under construction at the moment (taking a bit of time it seems unfortunately). In the mean time do feel free to call or email - our contact details are: ben.fitzgerald@czechsportaircraft.co.uk Tel. (Office) 0207 536 6356 (should be answered pretty...

Re RTF's Vs Build Your Own - personally I think building your own aircraft is a great experience. It does save some money (though by the time you price your labour at say EUR 5 per hour and add paint, sundries etc. I think the saving is marginal) - however, most of all it saves time - some people ju...

What's all this about divorce and the SC? The SportCruiser is a plane for keeping relationships (there is another well known LAA aircraft which does have a reputation for causing divorce, and I think everyone knows what it is). The SportCruiser is the perfect thing for taking your wife or girlfriend...

Simon, Timescale is currently looking to be this June/July for the EASA approval. We've heard back that on the SC, EASA are happy with the submisisons, and senior management are going to be meeting with them soon as well. So far as appeals / risk of rejection etc. it is not really a matter of this. ...

London and Essex Strut?

I've noted that there do not seem to currently be struts for London & Essex areas. There are a lot of builders and planes in London, and a fair number of airfields out to the east & Essex. Are there any other members interested in forming a formal strut in these parts of the world? We've tried a cou...

Whilst I can't claim to be unbiased - the SportCruiser must be close to the top of your list. It is comfortable (the wide cabin was designed with Americans in mind so plenty of room for us Brits), well built, economical, looks the part & flies equally well (with great short field performance). We fl...

Hopefully I can add a little more light here. EASA are a pretty progressive bunch, and I believe should have our full support. Currently they are unable to directly engage with the LAA due to their remit only to work with the national official aviation authority (CAA in our case), but that is due to...

A simple solution which avoids great expense, is to hire one of the units for the period of your touring. Companies like Aerosafe will hire out the appropriate kit, and also make sure it is registered in the UK database correctly for you. Have a look at https://www.aerosafe.co.uk/acatalog/HIRE.html#...
