Interesting article regarding air safety and the responsibilities of airfield operators (unlicensed) since the publication of the 'NEW' CAP 642.
However speaking with the CAA they have no knowledge of a 'NEW' publication, the current CAP 642 not having been updated since 2006.

One of the reasons bandied around by the authorities to justify Mode S is to make life harder for the terrorist (is it me or is that an excuse being used by the authorities for everything nowadays?)

I would also correct Brian Hopes reply in that discussion when he states that stainless steel has never been specified as the material... Brian please check one of your organisations documents TL1.06 ...

LAA Aircraft ID plates
Just considering an LAA Aircraft ID plate but as the requirement is for a fireproof plate (and when I studied engineering, aluminium, while not exactly flammable had a low melting point) I assume that I will still need a stainless steel plate in addition?
