Manchester Low Level Route blocked out on new 1/2 Mil
The Manchester LL route on the 1/2 mil chart used to be very clear and useful for planning and navigating but on the new chart just issued it is greyed out making the navigation features largely invisible. The CAA notice on this (below) suggests this has been done to suit CAA ATS regulators who do n...

Re: LAA refuse approval to connect PAW to Funke transponder (ADS-B out)
Hello Joe, Thanks for your resolution and advice on ETSO166B on the recent post. I have an existing LAA approved FUNKE TRT800 installation with an uncertified GPS for SIL=0 in G-RUVE. I just bought a Trig TN72 TABS (which is TSO C199 approved) with the intention of upgrading the ADS-B(out) to SIL=1 ...

Re: Electronic tacho
Could that alternator actually be a magneto? It is possible to pick off the impulses by connecting through a resistor (10k ish I think) to the ignition switch. I have the diagram for the set up in an RV if that helps. Not much different to the one in a Jodel before.

Re: Claim re contribution towards the cost of 8.33 kHz radio
At the General Aviation Partnership meeting a couple of weeks ago the CAA explained that the EC rules said they had to pay the applicant and claim it back from the EC as a bulk bid in arrears. As a result the project had a cash flow problem and they needed to pay what they could and then wait for th...

Making NOTAMS etc Compatible with GPS Devices
FASVIG has a project running to review Aeronautical Information (NOTAMS, charts etc) to look for ways these could be improved for the user. The recent interest in infringement reduction has given this new impetus and we would be grateful if you would tell us what does not work well for you so that w...

Belfast TMA change from Class E to Class D
Dear Members, NATS is proposing to change the Belfast TMA from Class E to Class D. You can fly VFR in Class E without clearance but in Class D you always need clearance or some form of special agreement. If this will be a problem for you or if you can give us a view to help develop the LAA response ...

David,
I have a copy of the interactive ebook that the CAA removed from their website a few years ago. It has audio so may be useful for your purpose. About the only out of date item is the use of mb rather than the catchy HpA I could email it to you.

In their response to our consultation to change the classification of airway Q41, MOD referred to the VFR recommended route that goes through D036. Re: Met Office new site
The met office website said that their existing GA facility will cease in October to be replaced by their new fancy but unhelpful and difficult to use offering. For example the groups of TAF and METAR by regions are gone and each airfield has to be entered individually by name. And international wx ...
