Re: Hungary - Positive update to info in TL2.08

Thanks, Donald. The message I sent to them did describe the specific aircraft and its Permit type. Their response specifically identifies G-AYLC and since 3.1.1.2 covers all that aircraft has and is (the parenthetical element of that clause contains examples so not an exhaustive list; Factory Built ...

Hungary - Positive update to info in TL2.08

Not sure where to send this to within the LAA, so have posted here for general info and so that the correct person can see it to amend the TL. I am planning a trip to Hungary, hopefully in the next few weeks, so checked TL2.08 ' Travelling abroad in a Permit to Fly aircraft' which currently says: Im...

Re: funke TRT800H and SW v5.2 for ADS-B

Thank you, everyone - that all sounds quite promising. Mike, I have ordered a couple of D-Sub breakout connectors for a cautious ground test as you suggested, and shall report back idc Sorry for going a bit silent for a while there - for some reason I had some log-on issues with the forum, which is ...

Hold on there, Bin Allen. The Weymouth venue will also have similar airspace restrictions; apparently maps were shown during the announcement meeting but they're not yet on the website.

Permit to Fly exemptions for Jersey and Guernsey

Good news. derekf on the Flyer forum has kindly highlighted that the Director of Civil Aviation for Jersey and Guernsey has has issued exemptions to the Jersey and Guernsey ANOs to permit flight within Jersey and Guernsey airspace by UK registered aircraft in respect of which a national permit to fl...

Quick reactions from Engineering

So, I posted our permit renewal form and cheque from Wiltshire under a First Class stamp at about 1500 on Thursday. This morning (Saturday) the Permit docs landed on my doormat. Royal Mail had a part to play, of course, but that's pretty impressive lightning-fast performance from LAA Engineering. Th...

Interestingly, the EAA videos are available to all.

I'll add my voice to the plaudits, as well. An excellent course - good value in terms of both cost and content, with three great instructors.

Good to meet you and the other students, too, Colin; at least we eventually found an exit from the airfield that wasn't locked! :D

Mike,

The LAA's Tech Leaflet for taking Permit aircraft abroad is here.

For France, the rules are in practice no different to CoA aircraft, but that's not the case for (e.g.) Belgium.

You might find the link in my signature below of help, too.

if these things are so small, then the need for 200 cubic miles of airspace to learn to fly them is all the more ridiculous. The consultation material describes UAVs of 450kg. I think Colchester's Rugby pitch might struggle! Also, if all the testing is done in a simulator, what they'd be testing wo...

It's worth noting that there is an error in the LAA article; the segregated airspace proposal starts from a base of FL80, not FL60 as printed.

This error is repeated on the LAA consultation webpage.

Summary document available here.

Another option, instead of Dymo - which looks like it came from, well, a Dymo ;-) how about this suggestionfrom an RV builder - the finished result looks like screen printing, and is said to be wear resistant.

Here's another method, via the EAA.
