Re: OFCOM Change Of Licence Requirement

What will be the situation with a transponder upon being asked by 'radar' to press the ident button, whereby a single continuous full power (?) burst of 20 seconds is transmitted? So that alone would be full power for 5% of a 6-minute period. Duncan McF. Duncan, the ident button adds one extra puls...

Re: CAA Consultation

I worked in a regulated industry for all of my career and so to me the proposals are bread and butter requirements. I am a little surprised that these are not already in place in some form already, and may be but just not explained very well which is often the case. They may not be palatable and, in...

Re: CAA CHANGES POLICY ON LOCKDOWN PPL MEDICALS

I have just had a class 2 appointment cancelled quoting the CAA restrictions on medicals so I’m not quite sure how correct this information actually is.

Re: "Electronic Conspicuity, where are we" article in Nov 20 mag

The answer may be “to what purpose is the ads-data being used”. If it’s a means of providing position data for separation in controlled airspace, class D for example, or is it for a VFR flight in class E airspace where separation is IFR to IFR. Or is it situational awareness where confliction servic...

Re: PilotAware Article in October 2019

I often hear the question raised as to how many of each type of device is out there and i know there have been attempts to provide statistics based on traffic recording by various parties. One thing comes to mind is the the BMA and LAA have a mod programme for adding ADS-B out capability through a t...

Re: An open letter to the leadership of the LAA

To help with some of the questions on this thread can I point you to Project EVA which was a European study conducted by NATS and AOPA in to electronic conspicuity and their ability to provide additional information action to the pilot to help avoid collision. At the end of the day these devices are...

Re: Flarm

Colin, I operate from a strip just north of you, Brimpton, and have a PowerFlarm in my Europa. Have been operating the PowerFlarm for over a year now and very pleased with results. It has alerted me to gliders as well ADS-B and other transponding traffic. I don't usually see all that it alerts but r...

Re: Flarm

I operate between Lasham, Wycombe and Abingdon Gliding sites and have a PFLARM in a Europa mounted in the rear like GBird describes with a clear view of the area around the airframe. I also broadcast Modes S and ADS-B out. The display is via a V3+ unit which provides indications of targets potential...

Re: Coaching Scheme

Out of interest and given the current Hot Topic on Infringements.

Are any of the coaches raising the subject of Infringements - if not should they and what would help pilots on this subject?
