Irv,

Good point about once 7700 has been selected voice comms are an "if I have time" issue. I wonder how many of us appreciate this. It must be the only time you wouldn't have to put the transponder on "standby" before changing the code!

Mode C or S: If you've got it - why not flaunt it! Seems pretty logical. I've done the survey - simple, easy answerable questions that don't challenge the grey matter.

Rob,

Reckon it should be 0.005".

The 5 thou doesn't really work because the thou does not say what units, i.e. thousands of what? 0.005 inch also does the job.

Ron, You can get a degree symbol on your pc by going to Programs, then finding Accessories, then look for System Tools and opening Character Map. Once there you have to select the degree symbol, then copy the symbol which can then be pasted into your text. Never tried it on Google but it works in no...

Mike, reference the fact that EASA need all states to agree - I thought that the dodgy Lisbon Treaty we were "sneaked" into recently stopped most powers of veto by one state and worked on a majority? Would there be more mileage (or will that be kilometreage soon) to contact our MEPs (Members of the ...

Common sense & Luddites are being confused in this thread. I, for one, would not like to try & convince a CAA legal eagle that a GPS was a "Chart". But even if you convince yourself that it is, when it goes U/S, you are definitely illegal. More chance of leniency if you said your paper chart blew ou...

Interesting point from Ron. Given the various answers the question needed asking. Has anyone who only needs near vision glasses used a company called Grett Optik? Based in Devon, they advertise a pair of normal sunglasses (various tints including grey) wth the bottom quarter segment a clear reading ...

I think they are tying themselves in knots, or showing their ignorance by using the phrase "orchestrated campaigns" as if it is underhanded. A dictionary definition of campaign (if you take out the military one) is "a series of organized, planned actions for a particular purpose".
