The pilots aircraft insurance covers the pilots laibility. The LAA's insurance should cover the liability of the LAA/Strut /Member. The member in this case IS the pilot. How long has the permit been expired? This directly relates to test flight, you may need a permit to test.This would make revalidation a lengthier process.
