Thanks Bill. I just happen to have some Intumescent mastic in the garage. I'd rather avoid the tendency of silicone based mastic to glue everything together but, if that's what it takes.

Many thanks for the replies. Dum-Dum sold out but I'll try some blu-tac.
The aircraft was rebuilt some time ago and some cables may have been re-routed through this slot. There are some tell-tale redundant holes in the firewall. I'll get it as gas tight as I can.

Draughty Jodel.

After three decades of nose pushers I recently bought a Jodel D117. I'm having a lot of fun discovering the delights of this machine but suffering from freezing leg syndrome. The problem seems to stem from the rectangular slot cut in the firewall, through which various cables and wires pass into the...

Cheers Malcolm. Guess I'll just have to remember not to get my feet wet by attempting to fly a GPS approach into Dundee in IMC.

GPS anomalies

I have a Lowrance Airmap 600c GPS which shows the runway at Dundee to be surrounded by water.
Having landed there several times without floats, I know that this is not the case. Does anyone have any thoughts on how to correct this and a number of other less major errors?.

Thanks Graham. Looks like I've been spun a yarn about the timing.
Prop is being blamed for the vibration and has been sent back for re-balancing. Just have to wait and see what comes out in the wash.
Flying a Eurostar while the spamcan is grounded, so not suffering!.
Thanks again.

magneto timing

Recently had magnetos refitted to Continental O-300 D. On doing Power check - both to right mag only produced 250 rpm drop, both to left mag only - produced slight increase in rpm. Shut down and left engineer a message. Have since been told that mags were set up for a 4 cylinder engine and not 6 and...
