The one I had on my old mono and the new one are both welded tube assemblies. No reason why you couldn't braze or silver solder it though. They are steel and the total weight including the two short hoses and manifold ends that attach to the heads is 1995g. I had a VW part which is similar but this ...

I had one of those oil heated inlets on my last mono. It wasn't connected to the oil supply though and when running with the cowl off the outside of the manifold just down stream of the carb would get a 1/4" build up of hoar frost on it! With the cowl on think there was enough warm air circulating i...

When energised a 12v battery master soledoid will draw about 1amp to keep the contacts closed. This will result in some heat being generated, but it shouldn't be too hot to touch. Part of the winding may have shorted internally allowing higher current to be drawn and therfore more heat to be generat...

The maul springs are quite large and heavy, though very similar compression type springs can be found in many car exhaust systems. These may be better suited to smaller lighter homebuilt types. I've found the maul unit and springs as fitted to my pitts a bit tricky to set up and keep working well. T...

I would love to help out in some active way, but I find myself being spread too thinly in other things to do the web strut any justice. I am keen to be a member and to offer my continued support for what is a good idea and a leap forward for the LAA. I'm happy to be an indian rather than a chief on ...

Bugger. They say that you've not built an aircraft untill you've built it twice, looks like I might have to rethink the airscoops then! In my defence, my old monoplane had a fully enclosed cowling but not a typical pressure type like you find on most factory aircraft. It used a similar set up to the...

Thanks for all the info, I've completed my airscoops by a bit of a lower tech method! I had a look at lots of photo's of various VW instalations that I have accumulated over the past few years and made them sort of the same!
