Try a copy of - 'Light Airplane Construction For Amateur Builders' - by Ladislao Pazmany; mostly about constructing a PL2 - but quite some detail on making the wing root fairings and cowlings in GRP. Was available from LAA.
Worth a read.

PAINT REMOVAL ON CECONITE

Many years ago I removed all the paint from an Aeronca Chief using MEK but changed to safer (slightly) acetone. That was butyrate over nitrate. Took ages, used to come away with a good 'high' after an hour. Soaked rags left on covering for 5 minutes did the trick - difficult to do underside of anyth...

VW Ignition System

Just taken charge of a machine with 1834 VW; it has twin electronic ignition split intp two independent systems. One using a sensor on the original distributor drive - the other sensor off a flange behind the prop hub. Currently undergoing extended flight testing to prove system. Both sensing system...

A lot of difference between 3003 and 2024 - 3003 is manganese based and 2024 is copper based alu alloy. I have a pdf. Aluminium Properties size 1.1Mb. should answer all you need to know :lol: - and more :shock: . Otherwise look in Aircraft Spruce catalogue for brief description. Not sure how to send...
