Sounds like a near impossible problem - time, money, wife issues........ RV12 would be quick to build but £50k. However, it's an aeroplane that a wife MIGHT be interested in. Old, wooden, lots of tinkering..... - can you see why she might not be enamoured with the Jodel? Other than that, sounds like...

As I understand it, the advantage of auto plugs with the PMags is you can get a larger gap and get a stronger spark - aero plugs just can't be gapped that big. Yes, they do need an adaptor. I can't see why auto plugs couldn't be used with a mag if they were gappped smaller for the weenie spark. Caps...

I had recently been checking this out and as I understood the requirements, only an electric pump check is required on bigger fuel injected engines. I believe you are more checking that the pipe work, filters etc are not blocked with insects/dead rats rather than the efficiency of the pumps.

Automotive Spark Plugs

Now that there are at least 2 aircraft on the register flying dual PMags, I wondered what the LAA Engineering view was on using automotive spark plugs which, for various reasons, may perform better with certain electronic ignitions.

No problem there - don't think my -10 will be ready before September anyway (2013, that is - hope to get to the LAA rally then). Was rather more interested in the approval process. I can't believe every suppliers fuel has to be individually approved. If it meets the spec (as Total AVGAS 91UL obvious...

There is a fantastic pain killer called "Solpedeine". If you try and buy it, you get serious questions from the pharmesist. Why? Because drug dealers powder it up and mix it with cocaine. So now, you can't buy petrol in cans (despite what the law says) because some a-holes might make molotov cocktai...

UL91

Glad to see the news in the last LAA mag that UL91 is becoming available. However, I was quite surprised that it was mentioned that approval is needed from Lycoming. They have an SB out approving UL91/97 produced in Sweden plus several versions of the fuel from the ex-Eastern bloc countries. If the ...

Just to complete the thread...... I have gone with Lazertran using black lettering. It produces water-slide transfers and looks really great on a pale grey background. Once sprayed with a clear matt overcoat, you can barely make out the transfer background. I toyed with the idea of DecalPro which ca...

Thanks - I think I have worked it out. It seems the handling agent has to submit the C88 and there is a standard set of codes to use in the so-called "simplified" procedure. Just hope my man knows how to do it. I'll use the contacts given if there is any problem.

End User Certificate

I am about to import the finishing kit for my RV10. Previously, I have used the C100 form (Simplified End User Certificate) to avoid import duty. This was a single, easy to complete piece of paper. It now appears to have been superceded by the C88 EU form which, naturally, appears enormously large a...

Rob, I think it is just Safmat which is in short (or no) supply. I think the normal rub-down lettering would work well but lining everything up would be difficult.

Ian, I think Lazertran may do the trick. Thanks - I'll order some and experiment. Not sure if I can print white on it though.

Thanks for the idea but it's not the look I am going for. The Safmat is clear, thin and self-adhesive. Once it's in place on the painted panel, you matt clear coat the whole thing and you have what I think will be very professional-looking lettering - if I could lay my hands on some sheets! I hadn't...

Letraet Safmat

Anyone know where I can get hold of some Letraset Safmat. It looks like an ideal (and cheap!) medium for labelling the panel. However, everyone seems to be out of stock - even the Letraset website. Have they stopped making it?

Firewall Sealant

Anybody know where I can find firewall sealant in the UK? Preferably in a tin rather than semkit.
