What's the score on N reg helicopters? I know there are lots of N reg fixed wing, and even N reg experimental aircraft flying in the UK (Red Ball planes) so what's stopping you buying an N reg experimental helicopter ? I assume you would have to fly it on an FAA licence?

BRILLIANT!!!

Can't remember how much, it was not cheap, but I think once you add up all the "wet stuff" on traditional covering I bet there is not a lot in it. All you need with oratex is the covering, tapes, glue and an iron

Talk to Paul at the light aircraft company TLAC and he will give you a price

I used Oratex to cover my Fokker Eindecker which most people have seen, its tough stuff, I have been known to jet wash it when it gets muddy!

It is more expensive but VERY light and I am using it om my new Projec J SSDR which will be ready to test in a month or so

does this mean you are building an SE5A?? if so, be carefull if you intend on flying in the essex area, as you might fall prey to the Fokker Scurge!!

I do believe that you have to show the CAA insurance before you fly, and there is a set amount of time that you have to do it before the date of the first flight.

I only went Saturday, But everything went well, Although the pattern was not followed perfectly, everyone was sensible and no one was cut up (whilst I was approaching anyway) and calls were short and sharp and ATC was perfect

Sounds good mike, mine came out nose heavy.

Mike, what engine are you using? if its the SOLO give me a ring, it needs some mods to handle the gyroscopic forces of a big prop. trust me you dont want the prop flying off.... :oops:

scary thing is i have already started puting pen to paper on a SSDR turbine powered plane!! it can be done as the engines way only a few pounds each (will need at least 2) and there is no vibration/torque so no heavy mountings (exept for the tank! their THIRSTY!!)

Now that my Mustang is finished and the lengthy test flight phase coming to an end and my pitch instability is fixed (thanks to Francis Donaldson, the man is a genius!) i only have the Fokker E3 to finish over the winter then i will be looking for something else to knock up.
