Hi Mark Yes, I do have a spin-on oil filter arrangement with a bypass arrangement as you suggest. My pick-off plate is home-made, although I think Great Plains in the US do sell one to fit a VW. However, it may not fit every engine, as the manifold could get in the way. Several people have told me t...

Hi

I have no oil cooler on my vw 1600 engined mono. My oil temperature sender is located in the sump as well. I also have a pressure cowling and have never experienced high oil temperatures.

John

Although I am no expert on this, I would have thought that having more exposed threads on the spark plug in the piston chamber could make them more difficult to remove, due to deposit build up? I use short reach Bosch W8AC plugs in my 1600 VW engine.

Roger I am experiencing exactly the same problem as you, and am also wondering about the pros and cons of supressed ignition. I am running a 1600 VW which when it came to me was running with carbon core supressed HT leads with, I assume, supressed plug caps as well. (As used on many car engines.) Th...

Interesting. I have 5k resistance plug caps on my VW1600 with SR4 mags. Do you think this could be reducing the spark at the plug?

Thanks for your help guys. I have found a company selling old motorcycle brake shoes, and have found some the right size...as to whether they will fit properly, well, we'll see. If that fails, I will get the current ones relined.

All the best.

WANTED: Brake Linings / Shoes to fit 4" Drum Brakes

I am after some replacement brake shoes / linings to fit 4" drum brakes. These brakes are very small (off an old kart I think) and the shoes have a width of only 3/4" (1.9cm).

My guess is that you camcorder has an auto shut off. Mine has an 'Anit-G' setting that automatically turns the camcorder off when it thinks its being dropped (i.e. when it experiences jerky movements). You should be able to turn this setting off for use in aircraft environments, or on rollercoasters...
