Re: Leburg Ignition - Battery Replacement
Hi all,
Thanks for the useful replies - I guess I was overly worried about flooding the engine. Our spark plug gaps are set to 1mm as recommended. I was flying at the weekend and certainly found the starting easier by ensuring the engine was well primed.

Re: Leburg Ignition - Battery Replacement
Hi Nick, I normally give it 2-3 primes, and pull through 4-6 blades (throttle 1/4" open) before trying to start. If that doesn't work I clear the cylinders (8-12 blades backwards with throttle fully open), and then pull through 4 blades with throttle half open, and start with throttle open. Is that ...

Re: Leburg Ignition - Battery Replacement
Hi Chris, Thanks for the info. The batteries on my mono were at least 5 years old, but still showed good volts before startup, and when I used a voltmeter as suggested. I've replaced them anyway as they are pretty cheap and just gives a bit more peace of mind! I'm still having a bit of difficulty st...

Leburg Ignition - Battery Replacement
Hi all,
A quick query - for those who use the Leburg ignition system, how often have you replaced the batteries, and do you replace them on a set period?
Possibly a silly question, but is there a simple way to test the capacity of Yuasa type sealed lead acid batteries?

Hi Ian,
Thanks for the info. I've managed to trace one of the articles so may well speak to them about the other.

Chris Lodge articles
Hi all, Having recently purchased a Taylor monoplane, I've been passed a copy of an article Chris Lodge wrote for popular Flying in June/July 1994. In it he mentions two other article he wrote, one in 1983 ("Ten years with the Taylor Monoplane"), and another when he completed the built (must of be a...

Hi Jon,
Sounds like a great idea, but what about all the members without access to an Apple device? Can it be made available as an epub or pdf file?

LAA Rally - Family/Children Entry Fee
I'm looking forward to flying into the rally on Saturday, and have some friends who live not far from Sywell who'd like to come along and meet up. The issue I see, though, is that from what I can gather as non LAA members for a family of four it'll cost £40 to get in, and then another £40 if I want ...
