Re: Paintwork blisters on fuel tanks
Thanks Tony. I'll speak to LAA Engineering to see if they have a view on the product.

Paintwork blisters on fuel tanks
Blisters (10mm to 25mm diameter) have been appearing for the last couple of years on the top surface of my Foxbats fuel tanks and I have been dealing with them by scraping them off and locally repainting. The Aeroprakt agent thinks it's the result of porous tanks. There is clearly a leaching through...

Re: Mounting cameras
Thanks Brian, maybe that's what I'll do. It's a bit like designing a Formula 1 car where having a limit to butt up to concentrates the thinking. My first prototype was nearly a kilogram but it proved the concept and subsequent efforts have become lighter. I'm very nearly at the 250 gram mark so I'll...

Mounting cameras
I have been designing, prototyping and bench testing an anti vibration mount over several months with a view to mount it externally on my aircraft. The engine and propellers vibration is transmitted to the airframe and results in the "jello effect" of the recorded video because of the CMOS type sens...

New Years Day fly-ins scuppered.
After putting up with the Christmas drudge (BAH !) I was looking forward to flying in to Henstridge, Compton Abbas, Old Sarum and Popham but the Met Office spells out an alternative to this scenario for tomorrow. Twas ever thus. Happy flying for 2017 everybody. James.

Re: Unable to renew membership online
Thanks Chris. I just tried again but the date format on the submission page is stubbornly stuck on MM/DD/YYYY and unacceptable to the process. I don't think New Years Eve is the time to expect an answer. I shall just have to wait until next year and try again James.

Unable to renew membership online
Must be a bug. My DOB is correct in my account details - DD/MM/YYYY but for some bizarre reason shows as MM/DD/YYYY on submission form after completing card details. Error reported as please complete DOB (obviously the format is not recognised) Anyone else have the same issue or know the answer?

Re: Bose repairs ripoff
Now there's a thought. Is there a suitably strong material used in the printers? I presume a method of 3D scanning and some donor parts would be required? Would the scan resolution be fine enough?ROB. THOMASSON wrote:Would it be possible to get the upgraded yokes 3d printed?

Re: Bose repairs ripoff
I'm just working on developing a pair of replacement stainless steel yokes for the Bose Aviation X earshells. I've made the bending iron and a former block and waiting for the material to arrive. If successful and they look good I may offer replacements for others.

Bose repairs ripoff
I love my Bose headsets. I started with the Aviation X then bought the later A20 as a second set. They are fantastic and I think flight safety is enhanced by having clear communications and a quiet background with the ANC mode switched on. However, and I would be interested to know of others experie...

Re: Coaching Scheme
My coach came to my strip to do my re validation armed with AIC 61 that relates to the airspace around me. He proceeded to ensure I knew where I was and step up the workload and scald me (kindly) for busting some altitudes he assigned. It was a good workout and points well made.

Re: Coaching Scheme
I recently re-validated my SEP employing an instructor listed by the pilot coaching scheme. I applaud the system of re-validation as a means of keeping the likes of me, a farm strip pilot, up to speed and maybe catch some bad habits before they become dangerous. The coach concerned was easy to conta...

Re: 912s running too cool in Foxbat
Thanks Nick, good advice but as far as the senders are concerned both CHTemp outputs and the oil temperature are consistent with each other and the odds on all three failing are probably quite long. The cabin heating is via a gate in a 60mm flexible pipe attached to a duct fitted behind the radiator...
