In my area (Cambridge) this plastic film is recycled. Or it was - no idea what’ll happen now that the Chinese have refused to do our recycling for us!

I don't believe that it is necessary to show your insurance to the CAA. We certainly didn't when we got our registration for the prototype e-Go (then still on the drawing board). As the SSDR s a subset of the microlight class, I believe that we do still have to meet the 35kt rule. In practice there'...

Ah but there are some grey areas, and some implications. For example: - canard (lifting) surfaces can be included in the area, whereas conventional tail surfaces cannot. What about the projected area of wing struts and undercarriages (probably ok if they are genuinely lifting surfaces). - batteries ...

I agree. And one thing that's come to light is that, if your plane falls within the SSDR regs, you cannot get a permit to fly. So it cannot be flown abroad. I had assumed that one could opt either way.... In fact an LAA magazine article that interprets the new regs. would be really valuable for quit...

It's the recent regulation exempting some aircraft from most regulation. It stands for Single Seat De-Regulated.

The CAA has just withdrawn the original order regarding SSDR. I can't find any replacement....!!!!!
Anyone know anything about this? We've just started building the e-Go prototype......

real struts with a virtual dimension

There's nothing to prevent a strut using a private bulletin board (e.g. yahoo) to allow lots of virtual activity. My local Cambridge strut has started doing this. It takes a while for people for people to get used to it, but can be really useful.
