Re: LAA “GRASS ROOTS FLY IN” RETURNS TO POPHAM 18-20 AUGUST

Imagine the furore in the US Ahhh well, Oshkosh is done now. We will just have a little bit of a do somewhere rural..... If we cannot find a suitable venue for an annual rally - it is very poor show. I was stunned that Popham was incident free given the local airspace and arrival challenges.

Re: AoA Display for an RV-4

Why not use the integrated AoA in say a Dynon Skyview ?

It is a simple ladder display, links through audio, simple system yet when properly calibrated, extremely reliable.

We have one on our RV7, calibrated 2 on RV12 and 1 on an RV8 - just absolutely easy peasy !

Re: Oil separators

It depends on what you are doing with the aeroplane. If you are using it for aeros and the separator is in constant use, then you would normally return the oil to the sump. If it is tourer and the sep fills over a period of time, I would likely dump it as you will have gunk and crud in there from co...

Whether The Weather....

Progressed through the mag to the weather bit. Generally good, but I think a bit of basic info missing. Should have put a graphic to explain air masses, most PPL's don't get sufficient teaching about that. Make the TAF, Synoptic and 215 all on the same day - then you can compare and contrast. Taff n...

Time for an update please.....

I have had several chats, texts, calls from people who are experiencing major delays in basic admin stuff. Permit to test Initial permit Etc. We are a members association, we pay our dues and we pay a lot to Engineering for admin services, yet we hear tales of delays, delays, delays. I am not critic...

Re: 5052-0 grade aluminium fuel line

Other alternative is just get some teflon/stainless braided hoses made up to length. Firesleeve if FWF. A lot of us in the RV world do that - much easier and neater. Most hydraulic shops will make up the hoses, AN fittings available from Earl's or similar.

Time to adapt maybe ?
