Re: Engraving machines

Hi Gerry.
Thanks, I may try them. Though the notion of making them out of brass was my initial thought.
Spacing between CBS is a bit tight so needs thinking about ref size of label and text.

Engraving machines

Does anyone have, and can advise on the usefulness of these small £180 ish CNC engraving machines? What and how is GRBL programming about? I was well familiar with CNC programming 15 yrs ago before I retired, but seem to be somewhat out of date with this stuff. Text engraving for switch/CB identifyi...

Re: LAA x BMAA

A definite 'NO' for the word 'Microlight' - it's total misnomer which the lay publice popularly believes are slow & even dangerous - barely better than a strip of fabric with a noisy lawn mower engine. Our range of modern a/c nowadays are every bit as fast & roomy as many 'real' planes. TBH my 1999...

Re: MOGAS availability in Scotland?

I don’t think there are any that sell Mogas on site. Most cases it’s cans from a local filling station.
I use it myself from a farm strip. Stop at Tesco on the way! Then use Avgas if I go far enough to need topped up.
Best to phone ahead and ask if there are cans and transport available.

Re: On the pull?

Good thoughts but I'd have to move the pull point on the winch 6 times to get her out. It would be more effort than pulling her manually especially as there's no suitable attachment point outside and the car has no towball. Now about those hoverboards they had in Back to the Future..... Actually th...

Re: On the pull?

I use a tailwheel dolly on my Emeraude. The tailwheel is “semi castoring” in that it is steered by the rudder to about 30 deg then breaks loose to freely castor. This system was used with tractors on HMS Eagle in the ‘50s with a tow hook at the front and back of the tractor, a technique is required ...

Re: Taylor Mono, Constant nose up attitude

I also doubt the manufacturer would design it requiring forward pressure. Having said that, I had a glider (K6E) that used a spring trimmer on the stick with an all flying tail. It was an open coil with screw adjustment to either compress or stretch the spring. Very effective, simple construction, n...

Re: ALL MEMBERS ! Please fill out those proxy forms..!!

For the avoidance of doubt. I was not insulting people with serious illness or disabilities, I was merely pointing out that the capacity/competence of any other person in the aircraft is irellevent. Just for the record, my stroke disabled, semi paralysed wife was perfectly capable of making a 60deg ...

Re: ALL MEMBERS ! Please fill out those proxy forms..!!

Since many non aviators may be reading this I would like to add something about the solo thing: Having another (perhaps more experienced) pilot in the aircraft, even if he/she is just there for the ride makes a big difference. Being able to ask "do you think we should ....." or even listening for s...
