I enjoyed it. For interest, the young lad who was scared at the start is very close to going solo now. He enjoyed it in the end :-)

Saturday was my first visit to an LAA Rally (by car not by air), I have to say I was VERY impressed with the whole setup. My wife and I really enjoyed the whole day. It will certainly be an annual event for us. I might even fly in next year

Mike, why would you want to replace the digital maps every year? The size of the screen would seem to mean that you would need the paper maps as well (ignoring the legal requirement to have one) so the only thing likely to significantly change year on year is the airspace. On the Aware, this is upda...

Bill, usually the only reason for the flaps on a microlight is to get the stall speed down to the maximum specified (35 knots if I remember correctly). When you enable the Rans to fly at it's new all up weight, the stall speed might be too high without the flaps.

With the system used with microlights, if the extra weight is in the cockpit area or any baggage area, it must always be within the balance limits provided the aircraft is not overloaded beyond it's 450 kg or any baggage compartment placarded limits. It would not get it's permit to fly otherwise. Th...

JC, No it is not illegal when you put them back on as these are all extras that are not needed to fly the aircraft. You just have to take the extra weight into consideration when working out the total possible fuel load to stay under the max all up weight. On microlights this is something we have to...

I have been reading the above with interest as an LAA member who has never been to an LAA event. I decided to take some days off and take my caravan up to the Sywell fly-in rather than fly-in for the first event. As there will not be acceptable airside access unless you fly-in, I will now be cancell...

Someone at the Fenland Fly-in took a great photo of us in G-RTHS coming in to land and then posted it on G-Info. Unfortunately, there are no contact details on the photo. I would love a higher resolution copy. Does anyone know who was taking the photos and have contact details for them?

My mod approval came through end of April, it took nine weeks. There were no questions on it, just a backlog at the engineering office.

Slow mods approvals

For those like me waiting for the engineering dept to look at their mods, mine has been in for 7 weeks and is still not near the top of the pile yet. Quote from the engineering dept today 'We have some catching up to do'. This is not a rant, just a heads up to anyone else waiting and wonderin...

Unfortunately, I am in the final stages of putting my Rans together, so I will not be able to fly in this year. Good luck and many thanks for taking the trouble to give microlight pilots a chance to prove that they can be as good a pilot as anyone else. Hopefully this will be an annual event for us,...
