There's something wrong with your aeroplane, an autopilot will not solve it.
You are talking about an autostablisation system, none of the autopilots available will do that.

Re: Use of Vertical Power PPS with Rotax
An entirely new and very expensive alternative to a couple of solenoids ..., which are also pretty much plug and play! It pays to critically examine the advertising copy to determine if they are really providing a valuable product. What are the alternatives, how much would they cost and what drawbac...

Re: 3D printing for accessory / non-structural parts
Talk to your inspector! You are assuming a lot - because of the variables with 3D printing it is difficult to "do some stress analysis" without knowing exactly what material will be printed at what density and the design of the part. Some basic features, such as sharp edged flanges for bolted holes,...

Re: 3D printing for accessory / non-structural parts
First of all I don't know much about Monos or VW conversions. It is very easy to think something is not "structural" but if you were hit a sharp gust while flying or to stop (very) suddenly on landing it is important that heavy items like battery are sufficiently restrained to avoid them breaking lo...

Re: Vertical Power install
Please think very carefully before buying a VPX, they are expensive and don't do much for you. Electrical systems are not difficult, if you don't know how ask for advice from your inspector. To figure out if a VPX is right for you ask yourself questions like, - How many of the functions the VPX prov...

Re: IMC in LAA?
This is the list of aircraft that were identified some time ago as potentially clearable. If your favourite aeroplane is not included then wait until this process is published in a TL and then request an addition. The priority at the moment is to get the whole process approved, details can be worked...

Re: IMC in LAA?
Dean, If I were equipping an aircraft with an eye on getting the Day/VMC limitation removed in time I would ensure that the electrical system was well documented. Owners are likely to be asked to show that the aircraft can survive the failure of any single component - eg alternator, master relay. A ...

Re: What has the Future Airspace Strategy done for us?
I want to be able to fly where I want when I want. There is too much controlled airspace with controllers who like to say NO. We have the equipment (data streams) to tell anyone who would like to listen who we are, where we are and where we are going. There should be some way of electronically negot...

Re: "Certified" aircraft engines.
In the US, for experimentals, I believe it is possible to buy a Lycoming (clone) kit and build it oneself. I wonder what the LAA would say if such an engine came into the UK in an imported RV, for example... LAA Eng will look through the logbook and find the last time the crankcase was split, this ...

The whole point is that there are no rules. If you meet the specifications (that were in the SSDR document and are now in the ANO) then you can do anything. IIRC there are weight and wing area (perhaps wing loading) specs. So if your aeroplane is below the weight limit and has a wing loading lower t...

David, I'm sorry to strike a somewhat negative note, but my experience has been that importing the aeroplane is the easy part! For me it took 3 months to receive the forms to apply for a permit and a further 10 weeks from initial submission of the forms to receiving the full permit. About 6 months i...
