Re: a65 and c90 engines and unleaded mogas

I've had sticking valve probs in two 0-200s and a C90 the common thread being recent head overhaul with valve guides reamed to min clearance. Use mogas and after a few hours, problems. Back to avgas and prob goes.

Re: Windscreen material

Thanks for the info, but I am going to use cast Perspex which I can source locally. Polycarbonate is a no-no as it is almost unbreakable.

Windscreen material

I am replacing the transparencies on my Jodel 120. 3mm screens are fitted at the moment, so I plan to use 3mm acrylic (Perspex) to replace them. Any comments?

Re: Check flights for Permit renewals no longer mandatory?

Thanks for the feedback, Brian, I wasn't suggesting for a minute that flight tests are not needed, just a bit of clarification. I've been happily doing them for years on my own a/c and club a/c in the distant past and did the CAA short course, and would not like to see them stopped.

Facet fuel pump

I was surprised to find that the Facet pump will not free flow when switched off. It will when even the slightest suction is applied, even sucking by mouth, but remove the suction and the flow stops. This is with the fuel tank a foot above the pump. As many aircraft are fitted with them, pesumably t...

:D Gavin, I don't know about reinventing the wheel, but fuel sloshing about, a makeshift supply line, and someone holding a measuring bottle sounds as if you want to re-discover fire! Lets keep this in perspective, you are trying to establish if the mechanical pump will deliver sufficient fuel to ke...

:? These methods sound a bit dangerous. How about if you measure the electric pump flow, and then note the fuel pressure from the electric pump when the line is reconnected. Run the engine on the mechanical pump at full power noting the pressure reading, and relating it to the electric pump pressure...
