Re: ALL MEMBERS ! Please fill out those proxy forms..!!

The Woodham winners list Steve Slater posted above reminds me that myself and Essam Bishara were the immediately preceding winners before TCT, in 2012. We flew to Cape Town and back in my RV-6. Just to scotch any rumours, there was no-one else in the cockpit, just me and Essam! No support plane hidi...

Re: ALL MEMBERS ! Please fill out those proxy forms..!!

The prospect of this dreary affair taking up most of the AGM, when we should be addressing matters that advance light aviation, makes me reconsider my intended effort to fly to Sywell on 21 October. I can just send a proxy instead and do something more constructive with my Sunday. Come to think of i...

Re: I want an RV7a

It is not a 7 but how about a 6? Already in the LAA system. You will learn to appreciate the advantages of a more nimble 6, and its tailwheel too :D
My RV-6 is for sale! See Planecheck and Afors etc, or email me at p1 [at] rv6.net.

Re: Air Courtage - "LAA insurance"

The devil you know .... hmmm. Could be right. I need to sit down and go through the proposal line by line and try to spot what booby traps might be lurking in the small print.

Re: Air Courtage - "LAA insurance"

Thanks guys. I hope to get the proposal reviewed by someone who knows more about this tricky stuff than I do. My current broker has given me a good deal and excellent service for circa 20 years so I am cautious about effecting a change .... Meantime if anyone else has firsthand experience I would be...

Air Courtage - "LAA insurance"

Has anyone experience of using Air Courtage? I gave my details to the elegant French ladies on their stand at last September's rally, now they have sent me an apparently attractive premium proposal. But the cover and how it is expressed looks very different from a standard UK-type policy. The insure...

Re: Tracey Curtis-Taylor

Having met TCT during her planning stage I wouldn't be a fan. But this row about her undeserved award threatens to distract the forthcoming AGM from matters more relevant to our flying etc activities. The award was made, and doubtless those who decided this did so in good faith with the available in...

Re: Flying Permit aircraft in non-EASA Mediterranean Countri

For Morocco and Egypt you need to get permission from the relevant CAA. There is no material difference between a certified and non-certified type, you just need permission anyway; the same is generally true elsewhere in Africa.

Sywell: no room at the inns?

Someone better informed than me may know why all the usual hotels in Wellingborough etc are booked up on Saturday night 3 September? It can't all be LAA refugees fleeing the questionable practices of the Aviator Hotel? And I thought my tent was safely packed away longterm, in the back of the attic ....

Re: Tracey Curtis-Taylor

I met TC-T at Stellenbosch Airport in 2011, when she was looking there for a Stearman to fly to England. Frankly, based on my impressions then, I am not too surprised at what has emerged recently ......

Re: PFA/LAA Magazines

Just now suffering from back strain, from putting another heavy box of past PFA/LAA magazines in my attic. Then I came across this thread, if we can have a searchable archive of the magazines' content I would have no reason to keep paper copies. That will be just as well, my attic is full of stuff t...

Re: Overseas Aircraft Moving

Paul Why not fly the RV10 to South Africa yourself?? This is not such a big deal, will be a lot of fun, the 10 can do long legs and so help to keep the cost down. It would be a shame to containerise it. Contact Eddie Gould for transits and fuel through Egypt/Sudan, should not be a problem, I underst...

Sywell area hotels full or vv expensive?

Usually I don't bother booking a hotel near Sywell until I have some handle on the weather, this time I had a look and was horrified at the prices. I got a modest room in Wellingborough for Friday, but Saturday night seems to be the problem. Now, perhaps there is massive demand from pilots heading t...
