Lycomings and mogas?
Hi I come from a background of Jabiru's and Rotax's so please excuse my ignorance. I am thinking of buying an RV with a Lycoming ( not decided which yet) but fly from a strip and would like to be able to run on mogas. Is this possible with all lycomings, some of them, or none and what mods will I ne...

There is a problem with the internal components of SOME of the 2 blade SR3000 variable pitch props. Mine failed without warning after only 100 hours due to fractured gears. I am awaiting news from Woodcomp as to whether it is OK to rebuild with the stronger gears fitted to the 2 bladers that have be...

hi thanks to you all for your help on this matter. Recently a friend of mine put an oscilloscope on the oil pressure sender output and we discovered that there are indeed spikes in the oil pressure. I then contacted Conrad Beale and discovered that Rotax are aware of this problem and have been worki...

tyre creeping on rim
Hi I have just had two punctures which seem to have been caused by the tyre creeping on the rim. Both were on hard runways and occurred during take off in a cross wind where a brake was being applied.. Examination of the wheel shows no rubber marks whatsoever on the part of the wheel where the tyre ...

Hi I have now spoken Nicol, the R & D man at MGL and it does seem as though I have an earth loop issue. I have tried hooking the oil pressure sender up to a totally separate MGL TP1 electronic gauge and get the same fluctuations. Given that I have also tried running the RDAC off a separate battery a...

I have put a noise filter on the power supply and also tried running the engine without the alternator connected. No difference. Rainer has suggested using an oscilloscope. I have a friend with one but I don't understand anything complicated( or even simple for that matter !) If any of you know how ...

hi I have had a chat with Ranier, the chap at MGL who designed the unit and he says that the problem cannot be in the display unit as it just displays what the RDAC tells it. He is at a loss to why I may be getting these fluctuations but is saying that it is usually 1. A corroded or bad connection 2...

Hi Tony The oil pressure reading with the engine off is zero as expected and does not fluctuate. The water temp is also fluctuating with the engine running but is steady with the engine off. This suggests to me that it is likely to be an installation issue rather than a fault with the unit. Is this ...

hi I have now tried removing all the other sender wires to eliminate the possibility of interference. No change. I have also tried running the RDAC earth direct to the battery( the manual says connect it to the engne block) and that makes no difference either. I am losing the will to live over this ...

hi The oil pressure sender has only one wire. The earth is through the body. I am planning this weekend to remove all the other senders and just leave the oil pressure sender connected to see if other senders could be causing interference. The water temp sender is also fluctuating( but not the ident...

Hi Thanks for the suggestions. Firstly I should say that Paul Sistern at Parts for Aircraft, the UK distributor, has been brilliantly helpful. Unfortunately he is not a technician and seems to get little backup from the factory. Yesterday the problems got worse. I landed after a one hour flight. Res...
