Re: Rans S6 washout setting

They don't. A MiniMax, for example has zero washout and zero wash in and it isn't the only one. Given that it has a thick wing with a benign stall, it doesn't need it. The S6 doesn't like to be flown out of balance and the lighter ones on the ES wing float if landed too fast. Both of those traits su...

Re: Airspace app wins NATS approval

The app developer has told me that it will not run on a Galaxy Ace.

Re: Airspace app wins NATS approval

It will certainly keep me out of airspace.
I can get no response from it at all.
Although I agree to the terms and conditions, it would appear that I have used 150Mb of my data allowance to download a flash logo. 0/10. :?

Re: Are we a bunch of Old Farts?

Yes, it is because we are an ageing population. I'm 55 and I AM the young blood! It took me 52 years to delude myself that I could afford to fly. We may be old farts but we sure as Hell aren't boring and our social networking involves meeting real people and doing things that are simply too cool for...

Re: Proposal to Introduce Radio Mandatory Zones (RMZ)

If C rule is right: "I hear tell that all proposals for allocation of Class D airspace will have to run as a RMZ for a 12month trial period. The allocation/imposition of a RMZ does not require the full consultation process of a Class D application. " Then the plan is to apply for an RMZ which will t...

912 dual tacho.

Tandem cockpit, so two standard 912 tachos will be required. I'm guessing that they will not both run from the one sensor but I don't know for sure. Is there a way to connect a pair of them? Has anybody done this, please?

Have a good look through the radiator once it is off. If it has picked up a load of mud and bugs, the reduction in airflow will cause the temperature to rise. Worth having a good look at the thermostat, too. They do fail and if it isn't opening fully, that could be it.

I agree with Chris Martyr. This forum has a function. It is for those who operate, construct, fly or have an interest in aircraft supported by the LAA. It isn't for debating politics, general squabbling, swapping the finer points of knitting patterns or fishing. Nor should it be. There isn't much tr...

Bike engines tend to be high revving and comparatively short on torque these days. They don't seem to last long either. You would need to create a crankcase without the integral clutch and gearbox so it all looks too much like hard work. The BMW engine is reliable but heavy due to its massive crank ...

Depends how you attempt to screw it in. If it goes in for a turn or so then binds it is the wrong thread. Reverse. If it goes in ten threads and binds then it isn't but it is too long. If you only use the pressure you would use winding a watch with your fingers, a little common sense and no tools, y...

I have no problem with all posters being required to use their real names. If I don't know who you are then why should I take you seriously? The current situation where noms de plume are permitted with the poster's name appended to the end of the posting is satisfactory but not necessary if the abov...
