New frequency for Thames Radar listening squawk 0012
The VFR listening squawk 0012 is shared by Thames Radar and Gatwick. Gatwick remains the same monitoring frequency (126.825 MHz), but Thames has now changed to 133.450Mhz (the official list is section 1.6 of the UK IAIP, a quick summary is found a little way down on the hot news section on the home ...

Re: Worrying trend by CAA on Infringements
Quite a few issues above... I'll try and answer a few bit by bit, but I've got a few pressing things today so it might be done piecemeal... if you do preflight planning, recognise distraction in the air, have such things as up to date chart, preferably have some sort of GPS device* that you know and...

Channel Islands reminder of website www.cicz.co.uk
With 'the season' approaching, and an increase in infringements down there, ChIs ATC has asked me to remind pilots heading their way of their website for information (although it doesn't replace checking NOTAM, etc): http://www.cicz.co.uk - can be found in links page (airspace guides) on FlyOnTrack ...

Warton to get 'listening squawk' from 23/7/2015
2015 has been a good year for the spread of listening squawks, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol, Shannon FIR and Dublin, and now another UK one: Warton join the listening squawk scheme on the 23/7/15, but please don't use it til that date! (3660/129.525 MHz, and read the Warton flyer about its use, see h...

Edinburgh, Glasgow, embrace Listening Squawks from 1/4/2015
Glasgow and Edinburgh get (different) listening squawks from April 1st (no, it's not a trick). Glasgow has 2620 (charlie if possible) paired with listening on 119.1 MHz, whereas Edinburgh is 0440 (charlie if possible), monitor 121.2 MHz. Glasgow request that theirs is used by traffic (which want to ...

Re: It's Autumn, it must be "Visit ATC Day"
Bristol tell me they are almost full for their Oct 19th visit, still have places Nov 1st, but beginning to fill, so if you intend to apply to them, best do it soon. (The dates are purely Bristol, other units have other dates)

New Pictorial Guides for flying near Liverpool or Doncaster
There are two new pictorial documents out for pilots in the Liverpool or Doncaster areas, well worth a little look if you are around those areas. Like other such guides around the country, I've put them on FlyOnTrack (on the links page, but also on Hot News on the home page for a while), so if you c...

It's Autumn, it must be "Visit ATC Day"
The ever popular and soon over subscribed Visit ATC Day programme is here again, and ATC units around the country are adding their names to the list and dates. If you ever fly close to controlled airspace, it is a very worthwhile visit. Please don't apply if you have been before, places are limited,...

Replay Number 10 on the same page is interesting, how pilots can make what they see fit what they want/expect to see

See Hot News on http://www.flyontrack.co.uk for more info and extent, but basically, radio mandatory unless otherwise approved prior to flight in a CTR-sized area around Southend from 18/7/2014, review next January. edit: Chart (probably too big to imbed): http://www.caa.co.uk/images/14/southend250a...
