Re: Wittman W8 Plans

Thanks Donald,

The pitot itself protrudes from the port wingtip. I know the W10 plans put the static ports underneath the aircraft and are known to cause problems. I shall have to do a bit more research.

Wittman W8 Plans

Hello all,

Does anybody have or know where I could get hold of plans for the W8 Tailwind? I know that Aircraft Spruce sell plans for the W10 but the two airframes are different.

In particular I am interested in the static port location, as my static tubing isn’t connected to anything!

Re: VW Run-in Schedule

Hi Brian and Chris, Yes, it is getting very close to engine run-in and then flying, I still have some mod paperwork to submit for the Leburg ignition, but other than that it is just a long list of 2 minute jobs to complete! Chris, this is a pretty rare Sonerai I single seater G-LOWE, I think it will...

VW Run-in Schedule

Morning All,

Does anybody have a copy of a run-in schedule for a VW engine, I think there was one listed in the Peacock conversion plans?

TIA

Re: New LAA member

Hello James,

With two small children, I would be tempted by a Jodel 1050, 2+2. Economic and fun to fly and with all that nappy changing you won't have tine to build anyway.

Best regards

Re: Windscreen material

Hi Mike,

It is as strong as Lexan but more flexible. The only downside is that like Lexan it scratches more easily than acryllic (perspex). The actually compund is the same as plastic coke bottles!

Re: Windscreen material

Yes, PETG is very easy to cut and trim and it will bend to a radius in excess of 90 degrees without breaking up. Better still it also doesn't require special drill bits to prevent cracking when making holes, I can't praise it enough!

Re: Windscreen material

Hi Alex,

Can I suggest that you try to source some UV stablised PETG. It is amazing stuff and most importantly fuel resistant.

Re: Aircraft C of A to Permit

Hello Mark, At some point in the past the Cessna 120 aircraft (along with J3 cubs and Luscombes) were deemed to be orphaned aircraft by the CAA and were allowed to transfer to LAA permits. There has subsequently been a review of policy (directed by ICAO and reinforced by EASA) to say that any aircra...

Re: Aerovee overhaul

Hello Matt, I suspect that the problem is prop related rather than the engine itself. VW based engines are very RPM dependant and if the prop is too coarse you will see poor performance and possibly overheating issues. Rupert Wasey of Hercules Propellers has good experience of both prop design and V...
