Re: Rally landing fees increased again!

Whilst I agree, it would be nice to have a system for flying unpaid volunteers (could be "Old Eagles"), I do have an issue with; At the Rally you come to see the aircraft, to meet your friends, to have a good time, most of the people are airside most of the time, the exhibition area in almost incide...

Re: Rally landing fees increased again!

Good Heavens - ITS A BARGAIN. You get to land at an airfield that normally charges £15, for an incredible £10 that pays for you and three passengers to not only land, but get entry to the show AND, if you wish, make use of the campsite and the facilities. If I show a Classic car I pay £10 for 6hrs, ...

Re: PERMIT OR EASA

Hi Brian - I think the GY80 was caught in a similar trap. In 2003 the GY80 was declared Annex II and in France many GY80's made it to a CDNR (permit). However once EASA "came to power" they ruled that it should be on a restricted CofA - but they then found it was too late as 32 French GY80's were no...

ELA 1 Opinion Approved 23 July - Part M Lite - Good news

On 23rd July 2014 CAA issued IN–2014/124 bulletin. This contains (amongst other things) the fact that EASA Opinion 10/2013 had been approved. This opinion http://easa.europa.eu/system/files/dfu/Opinion%2010-2013.pdf tells us that for ELA 1 aircraft, the Maintenance program does not have to be develo...

Re: Radio Mandatory Zone (size of a CTR) Southend from 18/7/

Its a classic planningv trick.

Ask for ten times what you actually need, then when you are given a tenth of what you asked for the objectors think you have been put in your place and they have won.

Oh and the mag only arrived today saving it for later !

Re: Radio Mandatory Zone (size of a CTR) Southend from 18/7/

How bl**dy stupid is that. So it means someone departing Rocheste for practice at St Marys marsh now has to talk to Southend instead of Rochester, losing all spacial awareness of other aircraft using Rochester for a traffic service. For many training at Rochester the zone covers an extended downwind...

Re: GAR submissions

I think that's a scare tactic to persuede you to subscribe to one of the new methods. If HMRC want notification of inbound X channel flights then they need a method that does not encumber a member of the european community. So there will always have to be a method of informing them that is simple an...

Re: PERMIT OR EASA

That would be a small price to pay (having EASA licence) to getting the GY80 on an LAA administered EASA PtF - But would put us on a level playing field with the French who have the RSA Nav overseeing the maintenance regime of EASA CoA(restricted) and EASA PtF using Part 66 licenced engineers. They ...

Re: Announcements by Ministers/CAA at Sywell

All sound positive Brian. The sooner the mess is sorted out the better, and we can get on with the job of flying and maintaining our aircraft sensibly. I'm guessing that it will be EASA who dig their heels in over the issues regaring Pre 55 designed aircraft and those where there is no effective Typ...

Announcements by Ministers/CAA at Sywell

Apologies if this is covered in another thread (I cant find it), but does anyone know what the much heralded announcements are, that were made by ministers / CAA at Sywell on Sunday regarding the easing of the regulatory burden that Light Aircraft pilot owners suffer at the moment - or did they just...

Re: PERMIT OR EASA

Sounds extremely unfair on owners of those types where some of the fleet were on the Annex 11 list that were allowed PtFs, but when the time came for them to apply to be put on a PtF were denied. Is this one of the challenges that are to be taken up on behalf of owners of these types adversely affec...

Re: LAPL conversion from PPL(A)

Thanks Jon - that was Brian Hope's view too. So I plan to apply with £71 and see what happens. Just got to sort out the LAPL medical now. I have a lingering doubt that they may want me to have my UK PPL(A) validated with a Class 2 medical before thay will convert, but i'll cross that bridge when com...
