Tipsy nipper is an affordable aerobatic mount, which accounts for its popularity! If it can be cleared for aeros I reckon there will be a good deal of interest in the Onex for the same reason.

Thanks Mike - that's a good point, and something that I hadn't considered. I suppose my Nipper could have been built using metric hardware (built by Avions Fairey in Belgium in 1959) ??. If that's the case it looks like a previous owner has perhaps squeezed in BA/BSF bolts into it, in line with late...

Undersized bolts?

I'm having a problem finding the right bolts for my Nipper. The ones in question relate to control horn/bell-crank pivots etc. The originals were, I believe 2BA, i.e. with diameter 0.185 inch. Some look to have been replaced with AN3 (0.187 inch). However, on closer inspection many are in fact 0.180...

I'm not up on my BCAR sections! MTOW of Nipper is 340kg, so it's not microlight category, even if it can squeak in under the max stall speed of 35 knts....
Directional stability with the standard rudder is a bit marginal, but otherwise seems OK to me!

Just curious - but as a new owner of an old nipper, which parts wouldn't be BCAR section S compliant???

The nipper seems far stronger than my old Skyranger (which was section S compliant), with similar control forces and a similar speed range. Is it to do with stability...???

Thanks Chaps - some good suggestions here. Yes I have suffered from 'condensation rain' in the past so I will definitely do something to address this. I think the bare earth/gravel floor doesn't help either, so I'll see if I can get a job lot of polythene, and will add a few vents. I spoke to anothe...

T Hangar - temperature extremes - what's best for my Nipper?

Hi All - I've recently acquired a Tipsy Nipper, and am keeping it in a small metal T Hangar. I might be paranoid but I've installed a max/min thermometer and found the temperature to go between 5 degrees C and 40 degrees C over the previous week. The hangar is dry and dusty at the moment, but prone ...
