Re: VW pulled stud

I wouldnt use a "Helicoil" insert. Contact VW Heritage, they have the factory replacement inserts as used by VW. Far more superior.

Re: EU regs similar to SSDR (?) 85kgs?

Also the German regs reuire in addition to the BRS, that the AC in question has an Inspection instead of the type certification. Also the DULV dont want anything to do with the 120 kg class and wont provide inspectors either. You deal direct with the LBA.

Re: vw 1834 oil pressure

Not knowing much about AV oils, if they are synthetic or have synthetic properties, i would like has previously been posted dump the oil and refill with a HD 30 oil as would be used in the car. Bug engines dont like multigrades up em. It would also not go amiss to replace the spring with a HD versio...

Re: Shafted again?

Bill i know this, Mr Flettner used them and despite this being extremly well documented the LBA didnt want to know till the EU got in on the mix. All of a sudden things changed and they knew all about them. The mind boggles. Not. :D

Re: VW running rich

Roger, i posted as this question seems to appear on many other forums as well. I am fully aware that the Vee Dub books dont cover AC powerplants generally. My reason was for the basic info on Carb symptoms. They are a mine of info for such things. These were all gleaned when i built my first AC engi...

Re: Hawker Restorations / AJD Engineering

I disagree. I think it is a wonderful idea that a company taking care of some fine historic flying machines are making use of the forums. They are in a small market and any chance of keeping the enterprise afloat with other one off jobs which we always have is in my opinion good for them and at the ...

Re: Shafted again?

Paul if you think you have been shafted, well up till 5 years ago Germany didnt recognise the Gyrocopter as a flying object at all and there was no exception and no Gyros flying in Germany upto then. My Benson B8M was grounded all those years (Ahemm) because of this. Now the onslaught of 2 seaters h...

Re: Air Drills and Compressor

If you are about to begin building a metal AC, and need to ask about a compressor / Air drill. JMO, you need to take a course in engineering. Why air drill, Cordless drill will suffice, much better control.

Re: VW running rich

Not meaning to be facecious, but wouldnt the purchase of a Haynes manual for the VW Beetle or a equivalent be worthwhile. Most if not all questions asked on here to do with the VW/Sauer/Limbach/ can be answered by one of these manuals. For those who wish to get into the real nitty gritty then i sugg...

I have never seen a psru fitted to a VW conversion, they dont rev enough to warrant one. As to which end to fit the prop well there is in my opinion only one end and it isnt the flywheel end. Ignition, well do you start your car with a crank handle, No so why continue to use magnetos. The electronic...

In reply to some of the queries raised above. I can only heartily agree with Donald. Yes we schnegen pilots do regularly flaunt the rules and are allowed to do so.( I disagree with Donalds thing about the food. The Belgian food is far better than the scraps you get on your plate in France. ) The pol...
