Is anyone familiar with the LUN 2225 magneto as fitted to some Walter Mikrons? I have a new one to install but not sure how to set it to number 1 cylinder before inserting into the engine. My manual only mentions the Scintilla Vertex type. Any help appreciated!

Re: Oil separators
Thank you Mike, it seems then that it is best not to put it back in the oil tank, so I’ll route it to a collector tank for removal periodically. The engine is a Walter Mikron that tends to breathe a lot so I was hoping to not lose too much oil by recycling. Aeros will not be performed. Looking at th...

Oil separators
What is the general thinking regarding best practice relating to oil separators used on aircraft? Is it acceptable to route the collected oil back into the sump, or are there good reasons not to? Discuss! All opinions welcome.
Thanks, David

Propellor wanted
Does anyone have a wooden propellor with pcd of 120mm and 6 x 8mm bolt holes suitable for a Walter Mikron III for ground testing? Pitch and diameter not so important. Can have tip damage as it can be cut down and balanced.

Re: Courses
Great idea, what about adding Walter Mikrons to the list? I have been trying for over 3 years with the LAA to get Basic Composites added to their list of courses without success. And why is there not an aircraft painting course? Both these skills are required for all aircraft whether they be wood an...

Thanks Frank, just seen your reply. We have sourced an exact replacement, albeit wired differently! All refitted and working. Just got to finish the annual now!

Wanted Delco generator for 0-200
Does anyone have a Delco generator p/n 1101890RX that you may have removed to fit an alternator. Even just parts may be of interest to me. Please reply here or call 01403 741539. Many thanks in anticipation.

Water slide decals
Does anyone know if water slide transfer decals can be sprayed with clear butyrate dope or will they react?

Re: 5052-0 grade aluminium fuel line
Hi Martin, Our Jodel 1051, originally with a Potez 105hp, now with an 0-200, has copper fuel pipe from the tanks to the firewall and mechanical pump to carb. I am pretty certain this tube is 6mm (1/4”) As originally fitted, aluminium tube was never used. Copper pipe is freely available in the UK. Ju...

Re: Spray systems
Hi Mike, The wings are staying silver. Strangely enough with the passage of 5 weeks the surface seems have sunk down to a more acceptable finish, if this is possible, so will stick with it! The fuselage has been dark colour coated with my usual flair, although I have used 4 litres of colour butyrate...

Re: Spray systems
Well, the rejuvenating nitrate coat all went to plan with a nice sheen, the Devilbiss gun worked well. However the butyrate silver coats have a dull appearance and a rough powdery feel, possibly overspray. This can be removed with a cloth, but it still leaves a disappointingly dull finish. Is it usu...

Re: Spray systems
Thanks for the replies. I have made the decision to go the traditional route and buy a good (Devilbiss) spray gun. I have been told that strangely cellulose needs a larger nozzle than other paint, so have gone for a 1.8, I can always turn the volume down. I am intending to Tee in 50 litre and 25 lit...

Re: Spray systems
Thanks Jim, very useful. I did some spraying (a nitrate silver rejuvenating coat) on Saturday using the Apollo HVLP, but had a lot of inconsistent results with the spray pattern, the nozzle seemed to want cleaning regularity, not sure if it’s an old gun. When it was working it was good. I did filter...

Re: Spray systems
Hi Mike, Thanks for the reply. I have a temporary spray booth in my garage. I have a compressor and conventional spray gun. I have also borrowed an Apollo HVLP gun and turbine. The top coat will be a Butyrate finish. I have plenty of retarder. Just wondering what the pros and cons of each system are...
