Re: What happened to all the Freds?
I had to google it! What a beautiful aircraft. I hope either yourself or someone does get round to building one as it would be nice to have one flying on the uk register. I agree that the undercarriage looks rather complex and reminds me of a nord.

Re: What happened to all the Freds?
I recently sold my Jodel mascaret which I owned ad maintained for 5 years hence why I prefer wooden aircraft as I have experience with them including wood and fabric repairs. I sold my aircraft to buy a house and it has left me with a very small budget. I have always admired the single seat VW types...

What happened to all the Freds?
My search for a single seat VW powered aircraft or restoration project has brought me to researching the Clutton Fred. I can see there are 25 on the uk register but very few are still flying. Most seem to have been built in the 80-90s but have not had a permit in the last ten years. Why is this? Do ...

When rebuilding a monoplane are there any mods that will raise the MTOW?

Re: Am I too fat
Brilliant, thanks Gerry.
I will start my search for a suitable airframe, hopefully there is a tired example in need of some TLC somewhere.

Am I too fat
I have just sold my Jodel Mascaret to release some funds for a house purchase and already I cannot bear the thought of a future that does not involve me owned my own aircraft! My budget is tiny but I am still drawn to owning a single seat vw engined steed and particularly the Taylor monoplane which ...

I use hevacomp to LV/HV power distribution networks. It may work for DC too.

Looking for a painter near cambridge
I am after a painter to paint some ailerons and a flap off of a Jodel near Cambridge. I am hoping to find someone that does not charge an arm and a leg but can paint fabric covered parts using 2K paints.
Any recommendations?

Re: If Carling designed an LAA aircraft?
Many years ago, in the PFA magazine, someone had a problem with the supply of spruce to the correct grade and length. There was a suggestion that makers of high quality wooden ladders had the material - it was straight grained, satisfied the moisture content limits, was cheaper. After all, they hav...

Re: 'Airdrome Aeroplanes' (USA)
I was there on Saturday but had to fly in Firefly as the weather would likely prevent me getting my Jodel back to its hangar. I thought there was a good mix of aircraft and some nice ssdr types. Unfortunately I didn't get chance to have a good look at the merlin but I did take a look at the groppo s...

Mark, was this decision reached after seeing the particularly nice example at the rally?
Sadly I do not have any. Have you tried advertising on www.homebuiltairplanes.com?

Re: If Carling designed an LAA aircraft?
The point I was trying to make is that a 'carling' design should consider things like the units we buy materials in and what can be delivered to make it easier and cheaper to source materials.
