Hi Dave yes I was there in my Stinson from about 11 am until 1300 then home to watch the rugby(,no comment on ow that was!). Lovely flight home with Tornado steaming the other way down from Warminster adding to the fun. catch you next time. Cheers Martin

Fixed Pitch Propeller life

Today advised that CAA/ EASA have introduced fixed life hours/years of say 3000hrs or 6 years for metal props , wood and composite seem to be excluded. Anyone else heard of this and a route to the full info. Thanks Martin

Caa Insurance

I did get a nice letter back not just confirming my Insurance but also that I had sufficient cover in terms of some non recognisable measure. Must admit could not see any value to the request when they could just check ramp like the FAA

Rod I think it comes from personal interpretation of CAP 428, Safety Standards at Unlicensed Aerodromes ,which covers many things including fire cover. I agree it could affect many strips including where I am based with 18 a/c. Thats why I asked if others had been given similar suggestion. Martin

I have had suggestion that if you expect more than 10 a/c to visit an unlicensed strip then you should upgrade from normal hand units near hangar to mobile unit with trained operators. This clearly would make many of our fly ins for small groups very much more expensive and difficult to arrangeand p...
