Just to update this, we had enough people to man the airside gates and sufficient marshallers so all fell into place at the last minute (as it usually does). The airside guys smiled a lot and so did the customers so I don't know of any incidents.

The Milton Keynes Aviation Society are looking for some help to man the airside gate this year. This is where they hand out the airside leaflets prior to people going airside. This is an important role as it satisfies the criteria to allow us to let people go and wander round the aeroplanes ...

Interestingly on a recent radio programme the head of the HSE said that OTT HSE rules were down to organisations over interpreting legislation rather than the legislation itself.
If interpretation is that wide then maybe the rules need to be clarified, we all know of village fetes and other events ...

Actually the limitation may be the amount of shoe leather on the marshallers feet...........

As we all know it was a good Rally, but there was plenty of space left for more arrivals so what about going over the 2000 mark as we have tried to do in the past?

I am a bit concerned about the comments of people discarding their sheets airside, surely everyone knows this is not the thing to do. However the same could be said for the person I saw smoking airside and who was not happy when I told him to put it out.

Well I came down to help out with the marshalling and must say I got a very enthusiastic welcome from the MKAS guys.

Andre the Airside Coordinator was getting up at four in the morning to do some running around before he even got to the airfield so I was a bit annoyed to hear the abuse he received ...

So a thousand arrivals is possible, maybe the fabled two thousand.......

Is it me or is the level of anticipation for the rally much more muted than it used to be?

As an ex-Halton brat I must come to the RAF's defence here, The Vulcan bombed the runway at a 30 degree cut in order to ensure it was hit. The ancient bomb sight was not good enough to plant a string of bombs along the length of the runway.
The Skyhawks and Mirages did a lot of damage but imagine ...
