Glues
Greetings all... wondering if you can help with a glue question... Prefene 4050 is one of the 2 local glues suggested for wooden construction. I have played with it on some scap but wasn't wonderfully thrilled with it... I have been trying to compare it to: https://www.abe.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2...

UK Import charges
Greeting all... Wondering what the situation is with importing components into the UK in terms of VAT and import duties? Specifically something like an aero engine? It is an old vintage engine if that makes any difference. Metal fittings i.e. not a standard flat sheet? Wood - either to be worked or ...

Engine Mount Calculations
Greetings all Looking for someone who can provide engine mount calculations to LAA standards. Who is the go-to person for this type of thing? The old mount had 4 holes in a V shaped pattern. Needing a new mount with 4 holes in a box pattern. Not a major change but as new mount been told it needs to ...

Re: VW 2180 advice
Thanks all for the reply.... It is a Viking Dragonfly Chris - so a plane that needs more HP rather than less. It last flew with a 2180 so cowl and engine mount all set up for it. While I would like to go Rotax for the extra power, quickest fix now is to find a 2180. Any idea on price for a reasonabl...

VW 2180 advice
Greetings All I am looking for a 2180 VW and was planning to advertise in the back of the LAA mag for one. However, I don't know much about engines, so looking for a few pointers please.... I wouldn't know if I was buying an engine that is best used as an anchor - or a great one. I would ideally lik...

HELP PLEASE - Space wanted in Berkshire
Greetings All, I am based in Reading (RG1) and am looking for space within a reasonable commute to assemble and work on a compsite plane I have just purchased. I am looking for an area that is at least 25 feet x 20 feet (although slightly bigger would be better), secure and dry. The plane last flew ...

Re: SSDR aircraft design
Interesting thoughts there Colin. LAA approval and sign off means a lot to me. Perhaps people will end up with the option of working closely under their guidance or adapting something else with little input from them. My one thought would be about insurance but I'm too green to even guess how the ch...
