Posted on behalf of a chum who needs some parts to get his Luscombe back on permit (LAA member of course, just not on the BB): I'm looking for some engine spares for an A65 as follows: Standard size piston with pin & end plugs, exhaust valves, possibly a +.015 oversize cylinder. All parts must be se...

I had planned to fly to Sarum from Goodwood, but the Prob40 RASN local TAFs, and the actual rain that quickly turned to sleet and then to snow flurries put me off somewhat, before I left home! There is always another day....

I found this works for me on Google Earth: try leaving a blank instead of the degree symbol, and two blanks between the Lat and Long i.e.

51x23'48.56"Nxx003x20'51.69"W

(edited to insert "x" for blank spaces)

Pete D: I’m glad I’m not the only one! I too sent my e-mail today ....... In “another place”, someone who claims to have had some involvement in the proposal, and lists his occupation as ATCO (draw your own conclusions!) posted to the effect that Norwich airport authorities are responsible for all c...

Colin, the lack of a "yes" against wing covers on the Cambrai site only means that they have not yet made any for that particular model and so do not already have patterns. They can and do measure and make new patterns for specific aircraft. Other UK suppliers worth a google are Velas, Sky4 and Vert...

Tony, I have an annual travel policy through Traffords (who also insure my Champ) which covers non-commercial fixed-wing flying. Cost was £160 for myself and my wife. Note this does not include aircraft renters insurance. Thankfully I have not needed to claim, so cannot comment on that perspective -...

Last August I paid £90 incl ECG with Dr Tabor, an AME based in Hove (contact details are on the CAA website). I don't know the current rate yet, but he has always been very reasonable compared with other AMEs. Although it of course adds to the overall cost, for some years now I've happily driven the...

I certainly covet a SportCruiser  , it looks superb and apparently has excellent all-round performance ..... but at £50K'ish for the kit, plus the cost of the ensuing divorce ..... I'll stick to my 'umble Champ. :D

You are describing the Aeronca Champ :D Extract from a US Pilot report: Once on board, the immediate impression will be of visibility and a cheerful airiness. The wing and skylight is so high and the pilot sits so far forward, there is none of the "Man trapped in an airplane" feeling of so many of t...
